Decision Time! My humble build! "Flexed" it, 5/21/09!

I haven't stopped in here in a while... man you've been making some progress! :)

It would be nice, but I already drilled the spot out for a tranny temp gauge before the swap to a 465. I was kinda leaning toward oil temp? Or maybe a switched gauge for both pumpkins?

I got the dash back together now, so it's not a hurry. Lots of other stuff to finish first. I'm getting kind of anxious to get my crossover in. Did the gear box, but I'm still waiting on the ORD stuff to ship.

I guess there are still other things to do...if it stops raining!

Yeah looks like it's coming along rather nicely. A side not the wheel studs don't have to be "pressed" out a big hammer works rather nicely with or with out a punch. Your going to wish you painted the steering box :D

I actuallly used an air hammer, I was going to try to reuse the old studs, and the last time I used a hammer and spare lug nut, I bent more of them than came out straight.:doah:

As far as painting the steering box goes, I was getting impatient because I was told my cross over shipped earlier, and wanted it in, instead of sitting pretty on a bench. This is where my impatience bites me in the arse, but oh well.

Thanks for noting the progress:bow:

I want to drive my truck!:D

Carpet and seats are in.

Today I got the carpet installed, the amp wired and working, and the seats are in. Still need to do the console and a shifter boot of some sort for the T-case.

It was so nice to listen to Krokus cranked up while I worked! Now I know my neighbors remember me!:haha:

As you can see, I already got my first grease stain on the brand new Corbeau,:doah:. I guess it can't be new forever.

The seating position is perfect for me. I was going to raise the pedestal an inch, but I don't think it is necessary with this seat. I LIKE IT!!:D

Thanks man, I kinda figured it could be worse! It'll end up mud soaked at some point!

XJ shaft

Hey, I got the "shaft" today! My $.01 XJ shaft, from e-bay, showed up today. I cleaned it up and all seems tight. No excessive play in the joints or shaft itself. I need to compress it about an inch and a quarter, but the spline end fits snug, and the column end fits tight too. I'll hopefully get it installed tomorrow. Then I can learn how to bleed the steering system.

I also got the OK from my wife to order the driveline emergency brake from HAD. Anyone have any experience with them. Every thing I've read sounds good. Another question, do all the 205's have a 27 spline output, or do I have to remove my yoke and count?

I also pumped about 4 1/2 gallons of gear oil into my pumpkins, tranny and t-case. No leaks, yahoo.

GETTING CLOSER!!:woot::woot::woot:

32 spline buddy. and you will need the brake kit / flat flange / and drive shaft or drive shaft mods.

here is a flange. and flanges next to 1410 axle yokes.

Cool stuff, thanks for the info Brett:thumb:. I talked to Jesse at HAD this afternoon and ordered my driveline e-brake, Yahoo!:woot:and the patented flange!:saweet:. As far as a driveshaft goes, a good friend just quit his 15yr. job as an engineer for GM, and is opening a machine shop to build performance motors and driveshafts. He has all the new equipment to do both! I'll have to take some pics once he's done setting everything up.:deal:

I just vented two spray-washes and the oven to bake parts, blocks etc. He'll add the 1350cv to my drive shaft for the cost of parts, and he'll also extend my front driveshaft too!

It's so awesome to have a wife that'll let me do this stuff!! I definitely won the "Wife Lottery" this time around. (Second marriage) She's not even into this stuff. She is peace, quiet, harmony and horses. I'm loud, obnoxious heavy metal, firearms, and horsePOWER!

I've definitely been Blessed, and am thankfull:bow:

XJ shaft installed

Oh, I also installed the XJ shaft I got yesterday. I pretty much followed the write-up I found searching CK5. I forgot the user's name, but I owe him some thanks. Everything went smoothly. I used new metric bolts and blue locktite. I don't know if it's necessary, but I feel better about it. I don't have a die-grinder, so I used my Dremel tool. Everything lined up and fit perfect. I love doing this stuff!!!

Next, now that the shaft and clutch linkage are done, I can place my Ford shock towers and get that done. Cool, a project for the weekend.

Ford tower install.

Being that I have my steering shaft in, and the clutch linkage, I can now work on the shock towers. After removing the factory mounts, there is a bulge in the frame rail. My idea to overcome this was to clearance the tower around it, then mount the tower with 4 bolts instead of 2 or 3. I hope it works. Basically, I just held the tower in place as close to the steering shaft as I could go, and marked the center of the hump. Off to my buddy Jeff's place. He has quite the shop. With a Bridgeport mill and chop box, it was pretty easy.

I'm out of paint, so I will have to wait till tomorrow to paint them, but I think they came out pretty good. I have them almost straight up,(not quite) to clear the Z-bar in the clutch linkage, and on the passenger side to clear the AC box.

I think I will stay with the blue for color choice unless something jumps out at me while I'm choosing.

Here's my idea of machine work.

wow you seem ambitious lol - keep up the good fight

Thanks, out of all the "toys" I've driven over the years, this is the first one I've done all the wrenching on, myself. I've been learning alot, and doing a lot of stuff I've never thought of doing myself. It's been very rewarding. I can't wait to drive it.:D

Thanks go out to all you guys on CK5, for all the info, help, and support!:bow::bow:

Still the best $25 I've ever spent!
