looks good, I love driving my blazer with the 4speed verses the auto.

You still need the Z-bar?

I have a Z-bar, thanks. I missed rowing the 4-speed too. Now, I may miss the overdrive though. Might have to go with bigger tires to make up for it:D(next year)
 
everything is 14ff except the front 1/2 or 3/4 ton calipers and 3/4 ton rotors. the rotors just take place of the drum. and then get a set of backing plate / caliper brackets and go for it.
 
Okay, GOod luck getting those linkages to stay together....I could never get it right. Haha

I used a couple of throttle return springs to hold the fork against the push rod. A return spring also goes from the fork to the engine mount. I ovaled the holes in the base of the Z-bar to get it about an 1/8" closer to the bellhousing, and I used a longer ball stud at the bell housing. Since adding the extra springs and new ball stud, I never had a problem. Before all that though, there were a few under truck repairs on the trail and the side of the road to put things back together.
 
oh cool, so for inside the rotor hub, just get 3/4 ton bearings and spindle seals?

The bearings and races and seals are all for a 14ff!!!

You need to press out the wheel studs to remove the drum. Then the studs are pressed through the 3/4 ton rotors into the old hub. You keep the 14ff parts and add the 3/4 ton rotors to it.
 
Corbeau Baja RS

My Baja RS showed up today. The adapter bracket was kind of a joke, but the seat is very comfortable...and it reclines. Being that the truck will spend the majority of the time on the road, I thought it would be nice to have the recline feature. Corbeau is the only one that I could find that did. I had another set of Corbeau's, the GTS II's, and they were quite comfy, but these Baja RS's blow them away. They are not as tight in the rear, as I am a little wider than I used to be.

Got them adapted to the stock pedestal, now I need an insulation barrier for the floor, then I can install my new carpet and seats.

Anyone have any ideas on a heat and sound barrier that is affordable?

Oh, I got a 2wd steering box off an '84 1/2ton today. I also won the bidding on a XJ steering shaft on e-bay the other day. $.01 plus shipping. $27.85 was the total.

ORD says that my crossover and rear disc brake lines will ship on Mon. I guess they have been waiting on pitman arms.

Getting closer to driving her. I'm getting kind of excited. Can you tell?

i know that excited feeling...heck i've only been without mine for 2 weeks and i'm ready to have it running again.

Me and my dad just did this in my blazer. He ordered a roll of "Fat Mat" which is basically a knock off dyna-mat. It was $90? for a roll, we covered the entire back and front floor of the truck, and parts of the back sides. There is still an easy 1/4 roll left. Then we also got some insulation from J/c whittney.

That FAT MAT seems to be about the least expensive product on the market. I figured a 50sqft roll would be more than enough for the front of the truck. From the rear seat forward is all I'm worried about right now, so even the 36sqft would do it, but for the extra $15, I guess I'll hold on to the extra till later. The carpet I bought 10 yrs ago already has insulation (jute) attached. I was hoping that would be enough, but a little sound/heat shield to road noise and exhaust heat will be worth it.

While I wait for the crossover and brake lines from ORD, I figured I would get started on the steering box swap. It wasn't as much fun as I figured, but it's done:smile1:. I reused the factory bracket and sandwiched the ORD bracket to add a little stiffness to the front. I had to redrill (oval) the factory holes in the framerail, but it fit pretty well. The existing hole in the front crossmember was a little low, so drilling that a little offset was a pain in the rear also, but after a little dremel action, that lined up too.:D

Just as I was trying to figure out how to hold the "new" 2wd box in place, and thread the bolts through the ORD brace, my buddy Bill showed up and lent a hand. Thank God for surrounding me with great friends.

For my next brilliant move, I forgot which line went where.:dunno: So...off to CK5 and a search of ; steering gears, steering boxes, steering lines, power steering, etc., and found out that I was not the only one to have done this. Another $25 well spent:bow::bow::bow: I believe 4x4HIGH actually went out to his truck to look and answered the question back in 2002. Thanks Scott, if you are reading this:bow::thumb:

Well, the box and ORD brace is in and waiting on the rest of the stuff!! I hope I don't regret not removing the stock pitman arm. I left it on so I would know where to index the drop arm.

I don't even know what is next. Maybe rebuilding my Selectro's internals, reconnecting the exhaust, rewiring the light switches. Who knows.

I've babbled long enough, off to some pics. I also added one showing how she sits. I think she has a pretty good stance!

No cracks.:bow: None I could see or feel anyhow. Frame was quite clean, no oil or grime to hide anything either!

I kinda feel lucky on that.
 
Dash

I got the dash back together today. Stereo is back in, wiring is sorted and out of the way of the clutch linkage and other moving stuff.

I cut some plastic from a Makita box to block off the vent at the left knee. It is now the switch bank. The three switches at the top are: 1. Dayliters. 2. Fogs. 3. Driving beams. The three lower switches are not in use yet, but one of them will be for reverse lites. The other two may end up being used for area lighting.

The stereo, amp, and auxiliary lights all run off the reserve battery, along with the winch.

I still need to figure something out to use the space where the tranny temp gauge was, any ideas?

I also got all the wiring secured out of the way of the seat mounts. It is all ready for the amp, which will be installed under the drivers seat.

I am now ready for insulation and carpet!

Ready for gear lube.

Got a little done under the truck too! I pulled all the PTO covers, cleaned out sludge and wiped off the magnets. It may have been a waste of paint, but I painted the covers to offset the grime on the drivetrain. Everything is RTV'd and ready for the gear oil. I'm waiting on the pump for the 5gal. pail of oil. I only want to smell like it once. I hope all the seals are good.
