Deep Cycle for starting

yeah, when running a setup like Kristies or mine, you really want the ACR and remote solenoid right near the switch.... you just run the acr between the #1 and 2 post of the switch.. so mounting it with the switch and keeping those leads short is nice...

So I would wire 1 battery to each post (#1 and #2). The ACR would essentially bridge post 1 and 2 like an electronic switch that I could manual activate if needed for some reason.

What position would I keep the barrel switch in either 1 or 2 but not both?

Here is a paint file of how I think it will be. All of this will be around or under the rear seat area of my K5. The Charging line from the alt is concerning me as I do not know quite how to run it nor what size it should be.

I was going to run my solenoid like this

It would make routing the charge cable and connecting to the distro block on the firewall easier. What are some down sides other than the long run of hot cable up to the solenoid from the switch.

yup, everything you just said works fine... diagram too.. keep the acr by the switch... and sure you could run the slave up on the firewall, no biggie... and charge wire to that post, as its closer than the common lug of the switch...

just make sure if the bat switch connections or acr is under the truck exposed, that you spray em with an anti-corrosive...

oh, and thats the plus of the switch, you can run in any of the 3 positions with the acr.. tho choosing a bank is the best way to go... wire a winch to post 2, run the switch on 1, everything charges, hit the acr switch for a parellel if need be, winch off a fully charged bat without touching your main bat, etc...

I will do that. I do have the benefit of no road salt or anything like that . One good thing about SOCAL:D. I will also make like a skid plate type deal to ensure nothing gets kicked up on them or stuff like that.

Would the regular terminal spray work(the purple stuff from Felpro) or is their something special that is normally used.

My cable shipped today so I should get it Monday as it is only coming from Gilbert AZ.

Thanks

battery terminal spray is ok.. We use, and I tend to prefer a marine corrosion inhibitor like CRC sells... It's kinda like a cross between terminal spray and cosmoline grease... good stuff...
