Oh and she thinks my "addiction" to my truck is cute lol, dammm not the word I was lookin for, but 10000X's better than what the last lady had to say about it hahaha

Man you guys im beat, ive been goin all weekend between rippin and tearin and blasting and painting.(And hung out with lady till the wee hours of the morning every night since friday lol). You wouldnt guess it but sandblasting everything takes sooo long and its so tedious lol. But heres a few pics of what I got accomplished today

I really hope I can remember how it all goes back together lol. Those brackets have so many extra holes lol. And the one for the AC condenser used to mount to the manifolds, and my headers stick out way too far to put it their so I think ill have to cut it and weld a bracket to stick to a header bolt or something. Ugh...... I would just eliminate the AC cuz it doesnt work, but thats the only way to put tension on that V-belt, and I dont feel like buying a new belt setup at the moment.

Maybe you dont need that belt without the A/C? I took the a/c out of the burb and dont have an issue ( exept my one squeaky belt but it has nothing to do with that.) And if you get rid of the a/c stuff let me know, I may buy some hoses and stuff from ya:waytogo:

Oh, mine is driven of a v belt that runs behind the fan/alt belt. I figured yours would be the same. If your power steering pulley has any adjustment you can measure it with out the a/c and just get a shorter belt.

The way the power steering was bolted in it doesnt look like it has any adjustment unfortunately :doah:

Time to put a york in its place, and get an air tank, so you can get on board air, so you can air down at the dunes, and then air back up and.... oh yeah the snowball:doah:

Lol, im putting an end to the "wants" categorie for the moment, untill i start saving up some money to spend on it. For now I just want to get the engine up and running so i can finally take a deep breath and say their, its done, now I can take a nap lol.

just get a serpentine setup and fix the damned air......your girl will like it better if her hair isn't plastered to her head

Keep the AC, you will regret removing it otherwise. As for the bracket not working with the headers, cut off the back mounting part of the bracket. Then use the factory manifold bolt, but run a nut onto the threads first. You use the nut to tighten down against the header flange. I will try to take pictures for you on how to do it.

Last post is where I put some pictures of the correct mounting. Ignore my first post. With my headers, they came with spacers, or collars if you will, and longer bolts. This was the only way the original AC bracket was going to fit.

In my last post (post #14) there are 4 pictures. The last picture is of a bracket I wasn't supposed to use (though it was from my truck somehow). This bracket is for trucks with no AC, I THINK, so if you can find one at a junkyard, grab it and delete ur AC. Sorry, I tossed this bracket ASAP once I found out I didn't need it :)

Disregard this post. The last bracket he pictured is used. He should probably find another one to replace that one that he threw away.

I wont argue, since I only got a few people to help me with pictures in my thread. I guess since you're debating this, you wont mind sending me some pictures of a proper setup, both for my sake and Deulings. Right? Guess I've just been lucky the past 500 miles, but it's always nice to be lucky :)

PS> you can reply with help in that other thread I started, instead of clutter Deuling's.

Nice work man, you are really cleaning it up nice! I see you sandblasted the water pump, I hope you plugged the holes first.

Keep up the good work, when are you getting the 400 now?

Yeah, I went outside last night to try to get a picture, and I din't have a single truck using that bracket yet. My 1988 V10 Suburban use to have it, but I swapped a serpentine set up off of a 1992 Camaro on it. I also have another 1988 V10, a 1976 K10, a 197x K20, a 1982 K10, and a 1979 K20 for parts, but I've pulled the engines on all of them already. My 1990 K5 uses a serpentine setup, and my 1982 K30 has a bbc. I'll take a look up at the old man's today. I have a 1985 K5 u0p there. I really did look for one.

Thats exactly what I was thinkin about doing:thumb: cool, I feel like a little fabrication anyways lol. Hopefully you can find a pic for me that would be fantastic!!

Nope heath thats the brand spanky new water pump that I just wiped down with some solvent and painted, I didnt wanna mess with gettin sand in their because if theirs any microscopic hole, the sand will find it lol.

And I got a text this morning and he is pickin up the 408 today, hoping to have it together by this weekend, but he is probably the busiest person ive ever met lol, he owns a small wrecker business, and hes got tons of other things he does all day and im not in a rush anymore, because tomorrow im picking up a Yamaha Warrior 350 from my cousin for $500, which is a really sweet deal, so if the trucks not ready to go by memorial where I would have to rush to get the engine in, ill have something to play around on the dunes with :thumb:

Lol, I forgot to ask what year, I know its pretty old, I will get all the details when I pick it up tomorrow night and post some vids, I know its never had any engine mods done, and im guessin its all stock so ill have to get some tips from you on it. Should look pretty killer in the back of the truck goin up to silver lake!!
