Deulings 1985 K5 Blazer, --aka Borderline Obnoxious; Silver Lake pics and Vids

How about a pic of the openings in the muff, inside the case...getting close!

Dam man, I know you all like his girl but thats getting personal isnt it!:haha::haha::haha:

Nice stack of parts adam, I'm going shoppin for the kids 72 this week too. Feels just like christmas dosent it:thumb:

YAH BUDDY!!! I was completely surprised to see the boxes their when I got home. It hadnt even been a full 2 days since I placed the order.

And Heath here yah go, this is looking in the muffler:thumb:
They seem really solid and nicely built, im pretty happy with them, the ends both have 4 slits in them for better clamping since my system is not stainless, nor do I have the equipment to weld it.

And yes the white on the bottom is the box it was standing on :woot:

Im thinking of puttin the same muff's on my car. From what ive seen they sound quite different and are quite loud.

Just give me a week or so and you should get a nice video of a 2.5" system. If you look on Chevy305's build thread he put the same system on his and has a sweet video of it.

Yes and I really like the fact they are stainless, have a lifetime warranty, and they are cheaper than flowmasters :thumb:

Is that the inlet or the outlet? It's looking like which way you install it would affect flow and sound....but that it could be installed either way depending on your preference.

I will say I was checked by the "sound police" at silver lake last weekend. They do random sound checks. They said the limit is 94 dB (2500 RPM in neutral), but they allow a tolerance of 98 dB. I was 96 dB! Barely passed...those will probably not pass. Although I have been going there for 6 years now and that's the first time I got checked.

Thats outlet lookin towards inlet. They are directional

:eek1: Those are going to be loud! :thumb:

Here's a tip, right before they sent me over to check my dB level, they said, "do you have a working tachometer", I said , "yep", they said, then go over there, we're doing sound checks". I immediately thought, "well, what if I didn't have a tach, then I don't have to get sound checked?

My truck is pretty quiet at 2500 RPM, in fact, on the road at 65 MPH spinning 2900 RPM, I can hear my TSLs just as much as my engine. It does get louder under full throttle, but I barely passed. I think those will not pass.

Another thing, I think they do random checks in short timeframes. So if they don't let you in because of noise, come back 30 minutes later, I bet they let you in. It happened to one of my friends right after he spent time and money trying to quiet it down, then he went right back and they didn't even check. :dunno:

Well you see I go up on holiday weekends mostly, their are thousands upon thousands of trucks up their, and many get let in with headers sticking out the side, so I think I should be fine lol. Im not making the truck soley for the dunes or offroad, I just want it to look nice and drive how I want. (also i like loud:woot:0

Maybe because I am just clamping the mufflers on however, I wonder if before going to the dunes, I could invest in a cheap set of quieter mufflers with the same offset, and just exchange them at the campground before going up.... That could always work if I really have a big problem.

Here is Chevy305's truck, his motor is way more built but idk how much that will affect the sound, im sure mine wont have as much of that idle growl to it because of how much more mild my cam is.

if your using normal u clamps it wont be the easy. if you want to do something like that just get a set of the slide in baffles and put them in the tail pipes just long enough to get in the gate. a set screw or push pin will hold them in

You do have the equipment to weld stainless. Go buy a regulator run some gas and buy some 316L wire. BOOM DONE!

fyi you should ask the engine builder what oil thickness to run for what he set the bearing gap to .

i know that people who run to thick of oil for specific setup loose power and fuel mileage . also say the engine runs and sounds a tiny bit diffrent.

not saying you will have problems with 15-40 but little thick for average gas motor.

I talked to a royal purple rep yesterday at the power tour and he told me to run their 10w40 instead, something about phospherous and zinc limitations in diesel oil which the 15w40 is classified as, where the restrictions are less for others...

And jess thats just money in my pocket, 4 uclamps will work just fine for my liking.

And I got some pics of the rockers, cant remember which was TDC...
Idk if they are opening enough or what, I didnt adjust anything.

And which of these can be deleted and what is each for, I need one of the spots for my mechanical oil pressure gauge and I would like to keep the electronic one if possible.

And installed a flowmaster on my buddies 2000 chevy, turned out pretty nice IMO.

looks to me like the little one is a oil pressure cutout or something, while the big one is for the gauge in your dash.

yep

fat one = sending unit for gauge

thin one = low oil pressure light normally or ignition cut off
