Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Oh yah for sure. Ill rip it down next weekend. Ill try a leak down check just to be safe. But I think the only way to see the gremlin inside is to get a peak at #7 with the head off.

hang tough brudda.. I know it's a huge huge letdown after the effort.. trust me, I get that... but in the end, the rig will be much more killer... just something you couldn't foresee...

Thanks Paul. :thumb:

Time to put those Patriots on....

Yah, if it is just a gasket and not the block or something, I may see what a shop will charge to assemble and deck those patriot heads. I think they would need steam holes drilled too.

Sorry brotha. I guess if it was easy everyone would be doing this stuff. :frown1:

I hate to say this, because I have been where you are, but I would drain the engine coolant tomorrow and pour some atf in that cylinder. Turn it over by hand and leave it at TDC if it is going to sit for a week.

I said the same thing on Facebook

It shouldn't be too ridiculous to have them machined and assembled.

Its too bad its sucking that much water. If it was just a small leak into the cylinder, I would just bring a pile of plugs to swap in that cylinder all weekend.

As it still is running just fine and didnt get hot or stumble at all, or mix into the oil.

Strap a 55 gal drum to the top of the cage to feed the radiator for the weekend???? :haha:

I'd do some digging man. You've still got time if it's something simple like an intake or head gasket, which hopefully it is. If I was closer, I'd all for helping get this figured out, hell, I even have all the gaskets in my tool box.

Nah, i got work in the morning and then heading straight to the campground. Its ok, I will live without it. I can relax and help everybody else out. Oh and did i say relax

good attitude.... you'll have your chance... I know it's a tough pill to swallow.. but life has those moments... and you'll win in the end... :waytogo:

Yup, already got a game plan.

If its gasket, im getting those aluminum patriot heads out of craigs barn and getting them decked and assembled with my current roller tip rockers.

If its block Im yanking bretts old 6.0 from under the bench, replacing the bent rod from his puddle smashin incident and putting that in.

:D

I mean you could always run it by every time you do a circle around the dunes, pop the radiator cap off and drive into the lake. Endless supply of water

Except for the stupid DNR putting up all those silly orange signs that say you cant go that close to the water.... :doah: :haha:

I've used lake water before, just takes a few water bottles at a time to do it, oh and be sure and filter it with your favorite tshirt!

Adam, can you get a boroscope from somewhere? go through the plug hole and see whats going on?
Maybe disable the ignition pull that plug and see how much you got leaking...maybe try some specific head gasket sealer? I used Bars leaks head gasket sealer with good results....maybe a temp fix, but it might do it for ya.
6.0 huh....yeah, good call, although much more time consuming before the dunefest!
good luck "kid"

That sucks Adam. I flipped a bit of crap your direction in this thread, but you worked damn hard to see through your vision. Props for that...damn shame to be knee-capped by something as random as this at the last minute. :doah:

This sucks dude. Sorry for the crap luck after doing all that work. I'm sure you'll still have a good time this weekend, then you can get back to it fresh and sort out whatever $hit the bed...

Thanks guys. I'm pretty bummed, but as I like to say.....You gotta pay to play.

Idk if I want all that sealer running through my nice radiator, I'll just tear it down and see what's happening. If the block is intact I'll probably see about getting those aluminum heads on.

I guess now I need some good links on how to's of engine work lol.

I have arp head studs, can those be reused? Or do I need new?
