I think the real lesson here is to make sure your pickup is mounted securely. If the motor has a windage tray, nothing will happen to the pan.
I understood what he was getting at. The leaky pan wasn't the problem. It was a symptom. The problem was the ejaculation of the pickup. That could've been hidden by a steel pan.

Is removing the guts really necessary?
I was just gonna try my hand at tig welding them together and hopefully not putting too much heat into the cast piece...
For no harder than it is to pull apart I wouldn't risk it. Last thing you want to do is have the pump get ate up in a short amount of time.
I pulled the plate off of the old pump tonight, just to check the internals. All I saw was 2 gears...
Are you saying push the little pin out of the top cap and take things out of that?

You? Tuning? This is excellent!

That isn't a bad idea at all, I might actually do one for myself...Deuling, consider using an oil pressure light. Light comes on when it drops. Then you don't have to babysit the gauge
Yep, ours were Moroso, but I'm sure there's a bunch of not too expensive options out thereUsed to have a light and gauge in my circle track car light was set to come on at 5 psi

. It worked well, still worked even with the crack, but it just leaked a lot of oil. Replaced it with an auto zone cheapo. I figure if it works, I already have a spare one in the back of the blazer, and they are available at every parts store for like $13....

I did the green lock tite. And then I put a bunch of jb weld around it on the outside after a good cleaning.
I guess I bought the "Thick" front seal gasket instead of the thinner one meant for aluminum pans... Made the oil pan install a 4 hour process of jumping from bolt to bolt slowly tightening. I hope it seals well enough...
I cut the wix filter apart that I had installed the night before the last dune run, and this was what a magnet collected.
I also welded a bung on the header for the 02 sensor for the innovative setup. So now I can actually tune the thing on AF mixture somewhat.
Ill have to look into that pressure light...
Yeah... I gotta get the motivation to wire it in. Im not sure why this kit comes with this massive wiring harness. I gotta get a wiring diagram as I think its missing some paperwork (bought it used).
I got it running last night. I found my OTHER oil leak as well. @folkenheath had given me this fuel pump quite a few years ago. Idk who remembers the "Box" fiasco..... It worked well, still worked even with the crack, but it just leaked a lot of oil. Replaced it with an auto zone cheapo. I figure if it works, I already have a spare one in the back of the blazer, and they are available at every parts store for like $13....
Running really smooth now.
