When was the last time you tried doing that or checked with DMV about it? They will not allow it anymore. You used to be able to register a truck non commercial about 20 years ago if there was a camper or camper shell on it but if you removed the camper or camper shell and carried as much as a bag of groceries you better be able to pay the HUGE fine. This is why DMV no longer allows it. People would use that excuse (camper/camper shell) to get around paying weight fees.
 
no kidding. after reading that, there's no way i'll ever move there! i wouldn't mind northern california much... but that looks like a bunch of seriously ridiculous sh!t. perhaps the state of Jefferson should secede from Oregon and CA officially... 'course, it would probably end up more socialistic than either one!

Did they just change this? My buddy had a camper shell and non commercial tags on his pickup. Last year, he removed the shell to haul some crap and ended up getting a ticket. It was something like $163. To my knowledge he still has non commercial tags.

I am pretty sure the state of Jefferson will not be socialistic. We will be poor, which may be a good thing. We will not have much funds to pay social services, so people who abuse those services will move to CA. That is a win in my Jeffersonian eyes.

The have roadside diesel tests here in my little mtn town. I am not sure how the identify non-commercial diesels. I was asked to pull over and they just checked my tank for off-road died diesel. I guess it was obvious I was a diesel.

I'm not sure if this is relative to what the poster is asking, but I bought my K5 from Florida and it is bound by Federal smog restrictions, therefore I can still keep my true dual exhaust or run wide open if I wanted to actually... So if the vehicle was brought in out of state I assume you're bound by whatever the Federal criteria allows you to do, don't quote me though... I hope that helps! :bow:

The last time I transferred/titled a pickup to me (2007) they asked at the DMV if I had a camper shell and wanted to register as a utility vehicle. They had asked me the same thing when I first moved here in 2001 with my '71.

Diesel is all about torque. Now if you want 350 ft/lbs of torque then no problem a 6.2 should get ya there easy enough.

I would suggest you drop a turbod 6.5 in for easy of goal numbers though.


I would like to know if a Blazer of our years is considered a truck or an SUV though....

Heh you aint riden in a DMax. Ill put my Dmax against just about anything u can come up with, specially in a truck :D and my **** is a stock 6.6 ltr 01 duramax with a tow tune on it. 420+ RWHP and 900 RWTQ:D
