It's on my list. My biggest problem problem with the cheap (and to a lesser extent the Rigid) flare tools was also that the would flare off-center. I must have practiced 10 times on scrap tube using all kinds of different tricks with both tools before I did the final flares. I tried lube/no lube, chamfer inside/outside/both, and slightly different lengths of tube sticking out of the tool. They all came out pretty much the same.
