Dmax in a 72 blazer

So, if you were to do the swap again -- Approx how long / how much would it cost you this go around?

What did you do for the fuel system (electric lift pump or mechanical? Return system?) and what about the engine mounts (Same as a gen III LSx?)? Custom engine crossmember to fit that giant oil pan?

Details would be awesome!

I spent 6k on a rolled truck 1500 + on a D60 front axle 7500 on a Suncoast 5 transmission 1k on the 205 setup and Im sure you could add at least 5k on other bs parts
Labor Is in the 300 to 500 hour range I bet

Duramax's dont need a lift pump. However I wouldnt run a diesel without a lift pump so I have a Fass 150/150

I used factory mounts andbuilt my own crossmember. I still have planned to do a "Greggs might as well" frame boxing trick

Its hard to put a price on it, Id say if Ihad another rolled truck it would take 2 to 12 months depending on what you wanted. as far as price? I am @ 40.00 an hour. I have done more stuff than most would ever try and tackle. I have Onstar I have power locks and windows fabricated and plumbed into the factory system incl remote alarm and locks. I have allmost a funtcioning ABS system, I am building a CUSTOME one off instrument cluster (yet to be finished)

It really depends on what somone would want. I personally ran out of money.
(bad buiss deal /partnership) It came down to just make it run. My abillitys are ENDLESS Its all about the benjys really. I also designed my own adapter to mate a 205 to the allison Tcase.
How long ould it take? well im one guy doing my own thing at home now (unemployed auto tech) so I have the time

Some answers in picture form, Mind you its a little more finished than these photos. the last pics of it are in a parking lot was drive we took in it from Utha to cali and back http://s604.photobucket.com/albums/tt123/Madspeed69/MaxBlaze/

Id be glad to meet with anyone interested just Pm me or Email me @ [email protected]

Take it to the Bash, thats my suggestion
IMO its not ready to be seen in public. I kind anal abut it and I cant afford to finish it.
I have to now take it apart and actually remove wires and junction bocks that arent getting used and mount up all the fuse pannels inside the cab and under the hood. Anyone wanna sponsor me :D

now you prolly already said this but wat type of transmission are you using cuz i was going to use an 6 speed allison and ive been "told" that i need to get a different front axle so the differential is on the driver side so it will line up with somethin or other

I'll try to answer that very open ended question quickly, if your using the original allison/nv272( i think thats what it is) then you have to run a driver sided pumpkin front axle. If you run some other t-case(like he did with the NP205) then you can run a normal chevy passenger sided pumpkin front axle.

I used the allison

I used an allison and FYI the engine is set up for left side drive shaft clearance. I used an NP205 FORD case with a Cummins manual trans 205 input gear and coupler that I got at Six States. I made my own adapter out of a big hunk of round billet aluminum. I used a Ford driver side drop Dana 60 front axle with 97 brakes using custom backing plates and caliper brackets. You do NOT need to use a 205 like I did if you have room for a drive shaft. if your doing this in a long bed then u can use the duramax tcase :waytogo:

since i too have a 72 blazer what do you think my best options would be for an automatic transmission

It's all right here :waytogo:

Are you asking me is another transmission will live? If you have assloads of money and aren't gonna make much more than stock power a 4l80e, But then you have to get the electronics for it and tune it too. Do you want a really simple trans? a TH400 with a lot of work inside might live.
The simple way is to use the Allison and make an adaptor yourself. You will have to also make the speed signal out of the tcase electronic like I did. Now your gonna ask me how I did that? well I cant remember the tcase I pulled the reluctor wheel from but I think all the 90's tcases used it. You will have to shave it thinner and have a hole drilled and tapped into the OP housing for the sensor. Its All on Photobucket Madspeed69

Or you can drop it off to me with a blank check and Ill have it done and running to your liking in 6 to 12 months faster if U really have deep pockets :D

sorry to say it but right now I'm in the research phase, i am hoping to start the project next summer but i've still got to save up the cash but trust me if i did have deep pockets i'd be callin
