well, i swapped to 56rear springs(1ton truck-10leaves) and swapped to a 14bolt rear(longer pinion) and also did a shackle flip(4in-moved axle forward). i did move the shackle flip back 4inches to make up for the longer leaves.

well, with my stock longbed rear shaft, the slip yoke is pushed in a tad bit more than it was. at ride height it only has about one inch of forward movement until it "bottoms out" in the t-case. is this acceptable??? my springs are stiff as hell. keep that in mind. i need to know by tomm morning so i can take it to the driveshaft store to get shortened if need be. thanks alot guys!!!

you should be fine if it moved just a little. As long as you have a decent amount of space before it bottoms out it should be all good.

well, i have roughly an inch before it bottoms out. i don't plan on having much uptravel(stiff springs) but if it does go that far, im in BIG trouble...but what im not positive about is when the spring compresses doesn't the shackle casue the whole spring/axle to actually travel backwards???? pulling it out a bit?

I have quite a bit of travel in the rear :D:D, and even though I am running a 203 which has the slip in the driveline I only use about 1.5" of slip total. If you were going to shorten it, try to get it so there is an equal amount of in and out slip. The best way of course is to flex your truck out but that is not always possible

just dropped it off at the shop to have an inch removed. they said it would be about 90 bucks, plus im gonna have them install the napa joint 447 and replace the top joint while they're in there. they said they'd balance it too.

just for future reference, they said as long as it has about 3/4 to an inch of travel you'd be "ok" under conditions where you weren't flexing it out or towing heavy loads. but since i plan on doing both i said go ahead and remove an inch from her.
