theres a guy locally that buys trucks w/bbc ...pulls the motor and scaps the rest of the truck regardless if it still has good useable parts..4x4 or not...i asked him about the drivetrains, since he finds quite a few c/k30's...he told me a guy from new zealand comes thru 4-5 times a year and buys all the bbc's and sends them over to new zealand and he pays him enough for the motors, that the rest of the truck is junk to him, he told me to keep check w/him and he would let me strip the rest of the truck of all the remaining parts that i want for CHEAP(scrap price), so i hope to start a pretty good pile of parts before long.
i haven't thought to ask what new zealand is doing w/our bbc's, but this guy from overthere has made this deal w/all our yards and shops, making it impossible to find bbc's around here....
1 place has 7 bbc's stacked up, from 396's to 454's and truck 427's, and won't sell them b/c they are destined for new zealand....he told me when they get them, they contact the guy and he pays 5 grand sight unseen thru western union...then 4-5 times a yr he comes after them and ships them off...the yard owner told me he helps the guy palletize them and get them to the place that ships them off, and last time the guy came over, he sent @30 bbc's back over there to new zealand! so they are impossible to find around here! :-(

The more your around the more you'll find that is not an uncommon practice.There is a guy here local that runs a HD truck salvage yard,and he has some people from PR or Mexico come in twice a year and about buy him out.They are mostly wanting generator style engines,namely Cummins 4bt's and Perkins diesel's.

Just last week a buddy of mine bought four Dodge D60 fronts (early '90s - kingpins, internal style hubs, 4.10's) for $200 each. Apparently a local coal/power company has just scrapped a bunch of their fleet including those 4 trucks.
Does anyone else think this is a D60?
85 Dodge 1 ton 4x4 - 175 bucks.
What rear axle would it have? If it has a D60 it is mine, i'm sure I could make my money back fast, what say you brotherhood?
Is that the one that was on Montanas craigs list. If it is a buddy got a hold of the guy and its a D 44 front

Nope it was in pittsburgh's, still haven't gotten an e-mail or anything, i'm not getting my hopes up, but a guy did call me back about a clean 88 K5.
Just found it, It is and was still on east oregons craigslist. Its the same truck. guy told my buddy it was a D 44 front axle. Sorry to dissapoint.

Hm, wonder why he would post it in the pittsburgh one, Oh well what can you do? Gonna go check out this you pull it place soon, and I get payed the 24th, and if I have my truck sold by then, i'll have enough for the 88 k5.

no one mentioned that these dodges came with 70 rears a lot. my old friend has a 91 3/4 ton with 60/70 axles, a cummins, and a nv4500
I've noticed that the gas models have a 60 rear, but the deisels will have the 70. Dont think the 60 will hold very well with the dino-burner.....

Could be, but I see alot of that too. Could be he is a computer/internet rock, and doens't know what he is doing. Could be Craiglist screwed up and posted in the wrong state. Maybe he is trying to get the word out???
