Do Suburbans and Blazers from the Early 1980s to 1991 has a Computer in them like today's SUVs?

Yes, but nowhere near as sophisticated as today's vehicles.
Yep, that someone was right. Anything with TBI (or any form of electronic fuel injection) will have some sort of computing logic operating it. If you want a non-computerized truck, you're stuck with a carburetor. Or a 6.2 diesel.
They are OBD 1, newer are all OBD 2. The computer is not too bad as you can fairly easily program the chips yourself. The computer lives just up behind your glove box.

My '85 k5 has a small ecm for the dist, the California models of the similar vintage have pcm and wires all over.

Gremlins live in the wires and hide in the computer when you open the hood, kinda like roaches when you turn on the lights.

Crap.
....never heard it described that way...but its accurate!..
I thought the mogwai live there. Its only when you pour water on them when the gremlins show up. So stay out of water and you should have no issues

Several people in my company have released the magic smoke. Usually the smoke doesn't live in the wires, but more the circuit boards and components.

Depends if it is a federal or CA emissions vehicle. My 84 K5 is a CA truck and has a CCCarb with a computer controlled distributor as well. My 86 K10 is a federal emissions truck and has no computer so go figure.
