hey....i like the fuel door...how did you do that or did you buy it?

If you mean the round diamond plate it's just covering the hole, if you mean the black fuel door it's off of a 69-72 truck with saddle tanks.

How'd it do?

Was it everything you expected?

Nice pics, thanks for sharing.

It did really good. There's a few little things that went wrong but it was 98% all good so I can't complain at all. I just have to address the steering, brakes, and axle wrap, but other than that it's all good.

so to space it out i can use a wider bushing or spacers...will do...thanks for letting me steal...i mean "reuse" your ideas...hope you don't mind, just really dig your ride...& how bad was the axle wrap...that's what i've been thinking that with stock 63s and getting the rest of the lift from the flip and longer shackle, i think i'm going to have to address that...it's just a four pack spring...but i don't want to limit it's articulation with a trac bar...maybe i can invent something to get rid of it, like use my magic wand...

If you do the traction bar right it won't limit articulation. The wrap was bad enough to scuff up the u joint straps.

springs

hey lucas, great job! one of the coolest 1st gens ive seen. i have a couple of questions for you. on your 52s front springs, are those stock rear springs or are they a lift spring? and did you take out any of the leafs? now on the 63s rear springs, what did thes come off of? and are they stock, or a lift spring and how many leafs(if any) did you take out? im working on a 72 and have 44s under it now, but have 14"lift spring under it, and plan on putting 52s under it for sure, but was going to 4 link the rear, but might go your route seems alittle eaiser and cheaper. thanks for your time

The 52's are stock rears with 3 bottom leaves from a 4" spring plus a zero rate. The rears are stock 4 leaf from a early 90's 1/2 ton 4x4 chevy truck and then I moved the front spring hanger forward to the body mount and did a shackle reversal in the rear, and then made custom 2" tall perches off the top of the axle housing.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I seen you moved the front rear hanger up. i would need to move it up more or just run the 52s on the rear cause i bobbed the rear of the frame off 8". i would cut more off the quarters off in the front to where my wheel wells would match up. Also im going to run my 44s still, do you think yours would clear 44s? Yours flexs great! better then mine, but ill get there i hope!

I expected as much.

Any issue's with the doors off, twist/flex wise?
I want to pull my doors during Rausch this year but I'm hesitant to remove them due to the additional support the doors give.

Answers to ?'s

I have had the doors off before the narrow and obviously after and never had a problem. The problem I had was with them on the frame flexed enough to jam the doors into the fenders and chip paint, so thats why I took them off in the first place.

The shocks are Skyjacker platnium shocks with 15" of travel, 25" collapsed and 40" fully extended.

And yes they do work very well.:D :D

I appriciate all the comments and replys. Now that it's done I need to find more time to get it out on the trail. If any more pics or ?'s are needed let me know.

Lucas,

What gauge did your run on that rear floor section? 3/16's?
