Door panel color

Well... I called DashTop and they informed to tell me that they haven't had certain dye colors such as red or blue since January and "might" have something by the end of this month. Maybe Sept. All they can ship out is black panels and I would have to paint them myself. So I'm just going to order some SEM paint and get the Firethorn red color and repaint the wrong panels myself. I don't want to paint them myself but I have no other choice. SEM usually works ok, if you use the plastic promoter agent. Just wanted to let others know about this delay. I wish I would have noticed these panels were the wrong color sooner but I assumed they would match and left in the box for months. Oh well...

Oh well. have you had your wife or lady friend look at the colors?
Women see colors way different then men.
My wife is picking paint for our common areas of the house. Keeps asking me which yellow I like, they all look the same to me
Agree. If you put the picture of my old door panel to the color palates, Red OE-3 matches the best but no luck on getting red panels anytime soon.

Can you just call and talk with them? I know GM had at least two different shades of red interiors on these, perhaps the vendor knows what is correct. if they are in the business they should know what color is right for which years (so I think lol), as the difference was year, not option AFAIK.
I called and got the bad news and she wasn't sure which color would match my interior.

Carmine red is "Chevy red" interior
Thanks! Thats the brighter red I believe.

Carmine red is "Chevy red" interior

I did see that GM used the same paint code for carmine in 1975 and 1985. Is that the ONLY interior red used in these trucks? In the car lines they changed the shade of the colors over time. I know aftermarket often screws up, but if there was only one red used for truck interior, how can you mess up? lol

You might be right, there might be only one red. I always thought there was a brighter red interior but maybe its just the camera lighting.

My '78 Carmine red...
the floor carpet I got used to cover the heat shield flooring. It's still Carmine Red just an aged version from a C10

The dash carpet is brand new.
