dually FTW:

Dually and 4x4. I have found that there really is no such thing as having too much truck. Also, duallys suck in the snow, this is why I will only have a dually that is 4x4.

LT.

Now that I saw more I voted dually.
As soon as I can I will post pics of my project.
Hopefully in this lifetime. :doah:

I've always liked duallys, my other truck is a dually.

But something super sexy about square body chevys. These trucks SRW or DWR you really can't go wrong. Now I have a thing for 6 doors

I'm interested to.see what your working on Iceman.

Well my 6 door is put on hold, I sold one of the cabs I was going to use.
I could use the other cab and add it to my red crew cab, but I am going to just make my setup with the 4 door for now and have it ready to where I just pull the bed off and graft the extra door and shorten the flat bed.
I will be flipping the rear axle to move the axle back 4" and building it the way I want it for now:
Narrow dually axle with a regular width flat bed, with my perkins Turbo diesel, SM465/205.
I am still debating wether I go with a Gear Vendor under/overdrive or a klune V
The Klune would be cheaper and work nice off road, but this truck will not be the wheeler but more of an excursion vehicle, so maybe I should fork out the $$$ and put a gear vendor.

after driving my burban with a Gear Vendor...It was nice, but thinks its overrated. It shifted hard, added complexity to a simple system.

Anymore an OD trans seem much more desirable than a GV,

and GV's are way overpriced IMO

Well my perkins engine is setup for a manual SM465.
I could make the NV4500 work on the same belhousing, but not sure if it will be enough gears for my engine.
I really need a splitter.
If I could find one of those 5+2 from a medium duty GM truck.:woot:

Also Iceman, I want to build a 3+3+3 out of my crew now.

I gave away real nice crew cab away a few years ago, now I'm.wishing I still had it.

I am fairly sure, a mechanic that I work with bought that black dually on 22.5s and its got a cummins swapped. drove it back to fort mcmurray from somewhere in the states.

If I were buying a new truck today, it would be either a quad cab or mega cab SRW dodge with a 5.9 in it. For my needs a dually doesn't work. I'd be daily driving, camping/wheeling, and some towing. If I needed a dedicated tow rig then a dually would be fine, still not needed though.

I always wanted a srw truck but could not find one when I was in the market. I found a drw 4x4 for the right price and after I lifted it and put 37's on it the look of the truck really grew on me. Its a bit of a pain in traffic and harder to squeeze into a parking spot but I love the look, especially with the h1's on the front.

I think it all depends on what you use the truck for. If you run a slide in camper and haul your rig I think a dually is almost mandatory. For bumper pull and even light GN trailers I'd go SRW.

I REALLY liked how my old truck towed being a CCLB, I hardly ever had sway and it felt a lot more stable than my new truck. I also loved the CC, kinda miss the extra interior space sometimes.
I think my ideal setup for me would be a combination of my old truck and my dodge's drivetrain. :)

I am going for that look but with narrow rear.
I will either use my dually front 60 with H1 wheels, or go with my HD D44 front with regular wheels.
It all depends on how big I want to go with the tires, and what I end up using it for, since it looks like I might be building one crew cab and using the other as is.
I think I should have some fun and list all my vehicles, running or projects in my sig line.

thats pretty cool, i found that picture on the 67-72 website

i say if its 2wd, then dually. if its a 4wd, then a srw. crew cab no matter what.

pic whore on for my junk

iceman- honestly, i thought you had more vehicles than that:D.

I got rid of at least 7 in the past year, and about another 8 last couple of years.
I had two houses at one point and then lost one so I had to reduce the numbers to fit at one location.:dunno::whistle::D
I like your crew cab on 38's.
I am going with the same concept, no or very little lift to put the tire size I need.
