Duramax Suburban - IFS Rebuild

FOR SURE.

I travel with too much valuable crap to risk it in a covered truck bed.

I like the security of the storage, as well as the passenger space and sleeping accommodations.

I can't even tell you how many weekends I've spent sleeping in my burb, post college. 6-8/year?

Burbs are hard to beat for their versatility. We do so many things in ours, including sleep and hauling stuff like lumber and building supplies. The next day we will pack it with 6 kids and my wife and I to go to swimming holes, ect.

Do you get progress pics?

Martin

I wish.

I haven't even gotten pics since he picked it up :haha:

He's been honest, and says he specializes in the build, not the marketing, paperwork, customer relations side.

So, we'll let him do his thing.

I'll call him in a week or 2 when he's supposed to tear into it, and hopefully get a few snap shots.

Doubt he's started it yet

Duramax Suburban - Ordered!

Thought about it. But at 175k, I'd want a lower mile one if I was going to do a swap. Plus, the Burb has a 20k motor in it. Slow, but good to go

Send that 175k motor to my front door I will be glad to take that weight off your hands! :D

Duramax Suburban - Ordered!

He sells them all to a well know LS swap guy. He's keeping the motor as part of this deal

Spoke with Travis in more detail this week.

Sounds like the body mounts in the front of a Dmax vs. suburban are differnt, necessitating a 2" body lift in the front.

The earlier conversions he would do got a 2" front to back, but this required finding a way to lower the rear ride height to keep everything level.

Now, it sounds like Travis and Duraburb both use a 2" reverse rake, that tapers to stock in the back. Magically, this, combined with the taller spring perches on the 1 ton rear end put the truck very close to level.

Took some time to wrap my head around it, as i hadnt' noticed the stock and 3/4 ton bumper differences in this generation of HD trucks.

But, after some thought, it really doesn't bother me that much. We'll see how it turns out.

Should make it even easier to clear the 285's i want to run.

We'll see. Hope to touch base with him next week again.
