ECM Tuning and Harness Building - GM - Ford - Chrysler - More

Not yet. Any you recommend? I can get them installed in both trucks.

They would be mostly for tuning purpose unless you want to keep them. The TBI ECM will need a narrow band to run closed loop. So if you want both then you will have to double up.

I would look at buying an AEM Eugo, the one that comes with the 2" gauge.

All you 96-97 Vortec guys with the 5 plug black ECM. We have you covered. YES those are tune-able by us!

All you guys with 5.3s looking for a budget performance upgrade.... Snag a later LQ4/LQ9 cam once of your buddies pulled out and hit me up for a re-flash.

It makes for a pretty mean 5.3 with a slight lope.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask but I know you could answer the question.

I would like to do some data logging on my recent ls swap, I'm having drivability issues with it randomly die in mid flight. I have the torque app and the blue tooth obd2 aldl but It doesn't seem like it's capable of really reading what I need. What would you recommend that is cheap... I know this and cheap doesn't mix.

Random is not good and will put you in the realm of harness/tune/fuel problems.

With what you have check out the Palmer Performance App. Its WAY WAY better and you can export the logs.

It's weird, it fires right up with a stumble or with some pedal into it... Not sure sounds like a air problem. Once I replace the trans lines I want to run a fuel pressure gauge and go for a drive.

Thanks for the Palmer app, I have heard of it but haven't messed with it.

If pressure is all good then I'd be looking at the tune or harness. Who did what?

Unsure on harness but NicD did the tune, I'm sure you have heard of him.

He is local to me, I will do a little logging sense it's practically free and see what I come up with.

Swap tuning and performance tuning are 2 very different things. End tune and drivability are what the tuner thinks they should be. Everyone is a little different and their expected end result is as well . Not bashing, just saying.

We did a street tune and a dyno tune, pretty much only to dial in the AFR and timing. He kept it pretty tame sense I want to drive this up and down the highway.

I will have to get in contact with him here soon to see what he thinks. It's bassed off a 02 5.3L

Is it a stock engine?

It's a lq4 with headers, cam with springs and a free flowing air intake. It's not a big heavy cam to give off driveability issues. :dunno:

Comp Cam XR259HR

Good choice on cam but why start with a 5.3 tune? That would need a BUNCH of work to run correctly. That cam with a stock LQ4 tune would run pretty good. By stock I mean VE table only. I could see where there is some airflow tuning issues.

I'm guessing he just has access to the base tune and built mine off of it. He did mention he changed 60 tables before we even ran hp tuners. We did a driving tune and then put it on the dyno.

Don't know what to say. I'll edit more than 60 to just do a stock tune and swap, cam tuning increases that. Get with him and see.

To me it sounds like typical symptoms of incorrect idle air tuning and base airflow tuning. When tuning small cams less is more. With truck engines alone there are many different coil styles all with different dwell times. Injectors come in many sizes. Fuel pressure at the rail can be constant or various...... Without knowing everything proper stock tuning will not happen, let alone custom.

There are almost 60 tables alone in just idle control that are different from 5.3 to 6.0.

I am not in the least pointing fingers here. I absolutely encourage you to let him know what is going on so he can have a chance to fix it. We all do things different to try and get to the same place.

Very much agreed, truck is down at the moment for trans cooler lines, I'll hook up my fuel pressure gauge and go for a spin and do some logging. I want the option to do that anyway, if it is a tune issue he will be the first to attempt to fix it.

If it still causes issues, then I will be giving you a call. :thumb:

Cool beans. I'll help however I can. Even if its moral support.

No prob and you are welcome. I'm here to help. I would rather see you guys get good info and proper parts than me just make a buck.
