Eileens 79 Corvette resurrection. It survived 1450miles on Power Tour

I dunno that it is a peeve of mine, in this case I was just hoping for some clarification.

Anyways, it does seem like you have two bad starters in a row.

Starter, Starter, timing, fuel pump, a lot of missing bolts. Still cranks slow but fires quickly. Going to spend more time tomorrow. carb is really rich, it was tuned at 800 feet before it was shipped to 7000 feet. Was just a lot of little things. I just can not get past the slow cranking issue.

It sounds surprisingly healthy in your vid...especially after you showed some pics where it didn't even have a filter spun on. I didn't have high hopes when I saw that.

3rd starter was no bueno. Ordered a high torque from summit.

Found a lower alternator bracket. New upper coming from summit also.

I hadn't even thought about the timing affecting things. Makes sense tho if it was too far advanced definitely wouldn't help.

No timing tab on the timing chain cover. Had to start with a wire setting TDC #1. (That's a number sign, not a hash tag)

Then eyeballing the rotor location.

After 2 30 second tuning runs yesterday, I started it for Eileen today. This is dead cold. Do not like revving a cold engine, but she wanted to hear it.

The video does not do the sound and the exhaust vibration in the chest justice.
No secondaries were abused in this video.

Now that she has heard it, she asked if the stock engine I have will fit it. I told her this one would be cool in my boat.

I am going to make it run in this configuration, dyno it, then make a decision.

Only had an hour here or there to work this week.

New high torque starter spins the engine over easy. Mounted the power steering pump. Belt was the right one the first time. Hurray for the little wins. Found an alternator lower bracket. Had to order the upper from summit. Then had to cut and weld said new bracket. Had to remove the tall valve covers. Didn't want them anyways. 2 belts later I had the alternator wired and done. The car has an aluminum radiator sitting in it. To bad it is 2 inches longer. 1/2 an inch thicker and taller than stock. The stock radiator mounts are offset to the left??????? So I cut the lower right mount out of the car and moved it over 2 inches. Removed excess rubber from the grommets to fit the radiator. Rebuilt the left upper mount. Right is still needing to be worked. Radiator hoses are on.

So close.

When I was on my way home from the umpteenth million trip to the auto parts store, I saw a round eye square body 4x sitting on the side of the road. No lights on, hood up. I hang a U turn and stop behind him. Flashers on. Young dude. Blown heater hose. Had it rerouted as I walked up. No coolant. I drove home and got him some antifreeze. He thanked me and looked up this site.

I get home and realize that I don't have enough antifreeze for the Corvette. Idiot.

Tomorrow afternoon it should move under it's own power.
