Eileens 79 Corvette resurrection. It survived 1450miles on Power Tour

Cool Wade, I want to see your wife do a burnout in it...:burnout:

Also, the beard fits you well Wade "Gibbons"...:saweet:

Today was a blown heater hose shortened and another tightened. All of the harness plugged back in. Oil pressure gauge shows thew same thing the manual one did. Did not run it long enough to get it warmed up. Still no fan or shroud on it. It will need a lot of little stuff done over the winter.

Something is missing.

Oh. There it is.

Back in Eileen's garage so I can get back to paying projects. Traveled under its own power. Had to move it in second, manual valve body TH400. First gear was over powering the brakes. Went forward. Revved nicely, even with the choke on and no secondaries yet.. Reverse worked. Wipers work. Both windows work.

Three neighbors were over before I could close the barn.

Now back to our regularly scheduled repair of the $100k Jeep. More money for the Buick.

I already told her she has to before we put new tires on it.

The beard is 3 years old.

Well my daughter is 3.5 and the last time I saw you in person she was an infant so that's kind of funny.

On the Vette, I see a mono spring, how does that ride?

Update. This is Corvette weekend. I got caught up on the paying jobs until Monday.

Fired up and moved under its own power still. Runs like crap and will not idle.

An hour later. All of the vacuum leaks sealed. Distributor turned one tooth retarded. (can we still say that?) Air mixture screws adjusted.

It fires up and idles. Let the temp get to 180 and the thermostat opened. Shut it down because of no fan or shroud. It is a little rich still as this carb was tuned for 1000 feet. I am at 7000 feet.

The fan shroud has a big chunk missing from the bottom. Will effect air flow. New ones are money so I am going to UPullNPay tomorrow to find a shroud I can cannibalize for sections to rebuild the factory one for now. Yes I have a plastic welder. And the repair is on the bottom. Needs to function, then we will figure out what to do later.

Engine mount spacers were added and nuts put on the bolts. Nope, weren't any on them.

Tomorrow will also be side pipe supports. I don't want to go aver a bump and have them rip open ad the heads from leverage. Front wheels will head to tire shop for new rubber. Might try to drive it tomorrow night. Just around the block. If that goes well, i am going to set off car alarms in the church parking lot Sunday morning.

New meets for the front done.

New top right radiator bracket made with the longer bracket for the shroud.

Did not fix the shroud as it would not go in if it was fixed.

Put a piece of crap flex fan on for now.

Put the correct bolts in the transmission cross member.

Designed the exhaust mounts.

Went to a funeral.

Bought GM valve covers and new gaskets. Did not get them installed.

All buttoned up for a proof of concept run.

Fan had a wobble on startup. The centering hole in the spacer was too small. I machined it out, but not deep enough. So that is now fixed.

Cruised down the street in low gear at 25mph watching the temp gauge. Sat at 185* for 2 miles.

Pulled it back into the barn to check for leaks and a once over under the hood. Everything looked good.

Went for a drive onto the main street to run through the gears. Everything nwent fine.

Into the barn again for a leak check. Nothing. Except a lot of blue moke from the left side pipe. Hmmmmm. Hopefully it is just from sitting.

Our daughter, Alyssa walks out grinning. So we went for a ride.

No secondaries. Taking it easy. 2 80mph runs being gentle. She took video of one. No burnouts yet. The left rear wheel is missing a stud and one is stripped. So 80mph was pushing it.

that's gotta feel good! well done Wade.
When does Eileen get the keys?

It came home on a tow truck today. The 3 good studs on the left rear sheared off. No body damage. I felt something start vibrating and immediately pulled over. Saw the last nut shoot off as I stopped. Sheared the 3 clean inside the hub. Wheel was shoved in the fender well. I did not get a picture.

Tow truck dude helped me jack it up and force the one lug nut I found on to the stud that we straightened out so it would roll.

All 20 have been ordered along with deep shoulder lug nuts. Bottom shoulder means more thread contact. The existing nuts ran 3/4 of an inch on the studs. I want more.
