Eileen got home last night. Took the Corvette to DMV to get the personalized collector plates, the DMV people had never seen a personalized collector plate, with the collector logo removed for 7 letters. Then we stopped for groceries.
We drove it Thursday to get the plates and groceries. Developed an exhaust leak on the passenger side. By the time we got home, it was obviously a broken header or a completely blown out gasket. 8 had tightened all of the bolts way back when I was first putting it together. Should have pulled a couple out. They were only in about 2 threads. So 4 on the right had fallen out. Blew the gasket clean out at number 8. Put carbon gaskets in with the correct ARP bolts. Theses are the headers that all bolts have to be started then ran in together.
Just bought a new reproduction tire mount and cover, a new heat/ac control and a poster size electrical schematic for the car. $100. Have to love Craigslist some times.
Been driving it. Has 800 miles on it.
Wipers fixed.
Dash lights fixed.
Brake light switch adjusted.
New rear brakes.
Matched the paint so I can fix the front bumper and do some touch up.
Eileen drove us to dinner tonight at the local Culver's. All 6 cars were lined up. They all would have been in the swap meet section of a car show in California.
Eileen had some running around to do today. She drove the Corvette. Ended up following a couple of other cars into a parking lot with 150 other classics in it. She went to her first car show by accident.
I could not sleep last night. Was wide awake at 1:30am. At 2am I got dressed and headed out to the barn. Looking at the car, I could either start on the interior or repair and paint the front bumper. So I started on the bumper because I new I could get it done by 7am when I had to leave. At 6:30 I was cleaning up the spray equipment. I will get pictures tomorrow.
