Engine crossmember/panhard kits

Hey Wes,

Yep, still around and building a few here and there. As of right now I'm at home between projects, so it looks like I may have time to build some stuff.

A mount for your application wouldn't be a problem, as I pretty much custom tailor each one of these to suit the particular vehicle.

The crossmembers themselves are standardized dimension wise, but the panhard bar and lower mount dimensions revolve around several different factors.
Dave, can I get a quote for the lower mount? And shipping to 67439? PM me if you'd rather take it there.

cross member

Dave just a quick note of thanks for the cross member. The quality is aweson. Will post pictures when it is is installed later this spring. Once again GREAT WORK.

Will thes work on a 2 wheel dive frame to convert to a 4x4.

At this point in time, I'm not so sure that it would.

On the 2wd frame, where the brake lines pass through, there's a bulge in the side of the frame rail that may interfere with the crossmember frame brackets.

That's just one thing I caught with a quick glance at my '86 C10 this morning. There may be other issues as well, but without having a bare frame on hand to confirm, it's hard for me to say one way or another.

Is the bulge from the quad shock option?

No, the bulge is where the brake line pass thru the frame at a slight angle to the rear.

On my C10 the brake lines exit the frame ahead of the axle centerline as opposed to behind the axle centerline on the 4wd trucks.

Is this the area that your talking about where the brake line comes though.

Availability?

Running D60 front on 78 w/crossover steering. $, how long, how to order? Got that EJS thing coming up. Crossmember interference is new wrinkle in crossover steering install.
Thx.

another happ customer

I had Dave build me one of these and couldn't be happier with it. I am pondering a few things though. Upper shock mounts are going to be interesting with a 56" front spring and axle moved forward. Before the crossmember purchase, I was going to use the Ford towers but now I'm thinking hoops are the only only thing that will fit. I bought long travel shocks for the longer springs so the upper mounts can be pretty high. I dont want to use the stock dana 60 lower mounts, I have the DIY4X Dana 60 Knuckle gusset/shock mounts that will put the lower mount on top of the axle. but upper is a problem with the crossmember bracket. Any suggestions?

How long is "long travel"?

Edit: Did Dcubb's crossmember need to be modified at all for the GEN III engine? I assume you swapped out that blue one for Dcubb's?

7100 bilsteins 14" stroke, and yes I swapped out the pacific fab crossmember because I boxed the frame and it was designed to fit inside it.

Was that Dcubb's standard crossmember or did it need to be tweaked to work with the GEN III?

As far as the shock mounting goes, you could weld/bolt the Ford towers right to the crossmember plates, that would be stronger than attaching to the frame I would expect. If the Ford towers aren't tall enoungh, you could space the the shocks down by not mounting them on top of the axle tube. You could use the stock lowers or make you own to position the lower shock eye just above and behind the bottom of the tube. Just my $.02.
