If it's still stuck buy another motor and put it in. Not worth the work of pulling heads and stuff on a standard SB. They are a dime a dozen and can be bought for cheap money. You can put all this work in and still need to replace it. Pull it now, put in a good motor, and if you feel like it, pull this one apart to see what the issues are. Chances are it's NG anyway. If there is no air cleaner on it then the mice have gone down through the open valves and built nests in the jugs they can get into. The mice piss has seized the rings the cylinders and you are screwed. Just a theory but I've seen it before.
Me too--had more than one engine that was seized at the boneyard due to mice intrusion...it's a nasty find when you pull a head off,and find the "compressed" mouse in the cylinder they decided to make into a apartment....
Usually you'll see evidence of nut shells or mouse tirds on an intake,if they have gotten into an engine...
Darn rodents! A freind of mine had the other end plugged up, the muffler. Truck had sat for years and we went through it all was well fresh gas etc... Fired right up and ran about 2-3 seconds, started dieing, stopped and then blew pressure out the carb? Took us awhile to figure it out?
