i've never really liked the black smoke belching or the slow rpm's they turn, but i do like the TQ they make at such low rpm's... but these here are a whole different creature...they actually make me giddy:

what the heck are these out of, and what have they done to them to make them wrap up like they do or are they stock and thats just the way these diesels run? i ask b/c i see alot of videos of them & they all run like these! looks like they would be way to heavy for a regular truck or are the looks deceiving, could they go in a regular pickup or k5? if at all possible i would put 1 of these in my 4x4 in a heartbeat. i've never ever seen a diesel turn on like these!:eek1::bow: i just got to know some more about them other than just Detroit Diesel 6V53T! i see GM on the engine in the 2nd link....drooooollllllLLLL!!!! what kind of trans would/could go behind 1 of these? being GM, could a sm465 go behind 1 or be made to bolt onto 1?...prolly a better question, would a sm465 live behind 1 of them?

i have no experience with these in any way but i was reading on here that these are really really heavy but theres a smaller one that you could put in a k5. i cant remember what the numbers were.

screamin' Jimmy's dude. 2 stroke Detroit diesels. you can put a 4-53 in a pickup no problem. theres tons of them running around the USA. 6v-53 is a bit more of a shoe horn. 71s and 92s are a no go. too damn big and mostly heavy.

the old military gama goats had 3-53's mated to either SM465's or SM420's, forget which. anything more than a 4-53 and they are too heavy, imo.

I used to work with the 8V-92T Silver Series when i was a DS level mechanic at the old base i was working at here in iraq.....I got a 6V-53T that im going to be putting into something possibly that i got free from a guy i did some work for back home.....

they are available from 3-53 all the way to 12V-92T.......the "T" designates a turbo bolted onto the intake of the supercharger, yes i said that correctly, turbo and supercharged......75 to 1500 horsepower is what they made depending on the size and configuration, the torque????......yeah.....off the scale. T

he best way to drive a Screamin Demon is to slam your hand in the truck door, get pissed off and drive it like a mad man, rev it out til the valves just start to float then upshift it.......

i've never really liked the black smoke belching or the slow rpm's they turn

that statement makes me mad in so many ways i cant even explain......a 5.9 cummins can be built to turn 6K plus RPMs.......they can turn over 4K in relatively stock form with just a governor spring kit and a few tweaks.......price for price, a diesel will make more power and get better mileage than any gas engine ever will with more factory parts......oh and last 10X's as long......

They made them a lot bigger than a 12V92. They also made them smaller than a 3-53.

i worked 13 hours yesterday and will work 13 hours today and ive only had 4 hours sleep between them.......i forgot about the 14 and 16 cylinders.......

They rev up that quick because there is no drivetrain drag(tranny, final drive, etc) You should have heard my TBI 454 that I started without the exhaust and tranny hooked up. Sounded like an alcohol funny car. Scarry loud and fast revving.

FYI, the number(53) represents the single cylinder displacement, so 6X53 = 318 CID, the V = V configuration and the T(as Logan stated) stands for Turbo. The turbos were a later addition to the engine since earlier models were "only" supercharged and weren't making enough power.

heres some of the 12 & 16v-149s I work on.............12v are generally 16-1800hp and the 16vs are 2250hp-ish depending if they're mechanical injection or DDEC control

if i ever get a chance to build a semi truck for sled pulling im going to use a 12V92T with quad chargers......hard to find but they did come factory in some older 379 Peterbilts.....

I got to see a race truck with a 16v-92 out of a tugboat. into about 3000hp it said. my fav's are an old COE with a bigass V detroit.

Werner Enterprise has a show truck with, if I remember correctly, a 16V92.
