family hauler burban

Just saw that you are in Rock Springs,,, sorry.

I like the rear tailgate because I can roll down the rear window a bit and with the other windows rolled down you get a nice breeze. It isn't a deal killer obviously, just a preference.

I'm shopping KSL now for an '85-91 3/4 ton burb 4x4 now.

Overheating may not be just the radiator. It could be the thermostat or hoses. Have you examined the coolant and looked into the radiator? All you may need is a good flush & fill kit. You pour some cleaning agent in there, drive for a while, then flush it out.

Any time I buy a new vehicle I change all filters, fluids, and tune-up items (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, belts, hoses, etc) under the assumption the PO hasn't done them ever!

new hoses, new thermostat, flushed, and new fan clutch was the first things i did to it.

its fine around town runs nice and cool, start climbing a hill and im doing 40 in a 65 because its getting 225-240 degrees. get back on flat ground and she cools back down. the previous owner put what looks like a 1 core radiator in.

A single core radiator doesn't sound right, so it sounds like you know for sure and if so that is an easy enough fix! Stop playing on the computer and go get 'er done! :D

im excited, i just ordered my aluminum radiator and windstar electric fans

called the local junkyard today about a door hand for the back barn door, $40 for a used one, i can buy a brand new one for $25

gonna be like christmas when i get home, fan assembly showed up and my tires showed up (fedex guy wasnt happy about the tires, said they kept rolling around in his truck lol)

i dont have much time right now in my life with everything else going on so i am selling the blazer to a guy at work, told him i was going to pull the cowl hood off and the lund visor. so tonight i pulled both hoods and swapped them, also pulled the visor off. while i was doing this i noticed the suburban was leaking antifreeze, crawled under it and it is leaking from my new (cheap quality hose, since they didnt have a good one when i needed it), so the tear down began a few days early.

tonight i got the fan shroud out, hoses, radiator, belt, fan/clutch, and decided since i was this far down i might as well change out the water pump. good thing too because there was play in the shaft. now theres a ton of room in the engine bay lol.

Do you need some new, well not new but my old barn doors?

They are cooler then yours :waytogo:

Pictures on my build thread second to the last page or so.

You just have to come get them. Might be able to talk me ot of a bunch of stuff if i still have it.

i was just showing the wife your storage in the rear barn doors.

i would be interested in them once i get my radiator back in and my tires mounted. dont think i can haul them in the caliber lol.

Well let me know they are in ID right now I am going up in a week or so and can bring them back down to here.

put the water pump and the pulley on tonight, pulled the radiator and fans out of the boxes

which aluminum radiator is that? I just installed a Vistapro Brass/brass radiator.

Its the one from genesis auto I posted a link to in your thread when you were looking for a radiator. Cost me $145

Didnt' realize how cheap it was

AND, was in a massive hurry after they shipped me the wrong one.

Live and learn, i guess. My brass/brass radiator was about double that.....but fit like a glove.

ordering new radiator bushing pads, chevy dealer says they dont make them anymore so im ordering a set of 4 poly ones from summit for $13. the bottom 2 in there now are limp like wet noodles and the top 2 are missing and had a rag shoved in for one.

installed the radiator and electric fans, got them wired in sunday (main comes on with ignition and secondary is wired to a switch). my bushings showed up lastnight but i got off work to late to put them in, hoping i can get them in tonight.

so sunday i put it through its paces to see how the new radiator was gonna work. around town it was fine, but the old radiator was fine around town. so i headed up white mountain which is right out of town and a bumpy rocky road thats about a 70-80 degree climb, it started to warm up a little and as soon as i hit the secondary fan i just watched my temps drop back down. next test was the freeway, it would heat up going down the freeway even with the heat on, now its nice and cool even with the A/C running.

You are going to want to put the always one on a thermo switch. I ran up to ID in December never once turned on the fan, truck never got off of the thermostat.
