Father-daughter 76 annihilator build

It will be easier to bolt a full manual 700 to an LS motor than to bolt an LS trans to an early engine. If you like the 700 then go that way. The output shaft on the 700 will need to be changed to a custom splined unit if you intend to keep the 203 transfer case. If you switch to a 208 or 241 ( advisable) then you can get those TC's from a vehicle that was equipped with a 700 pretty easily, no special shafts required and solves the full time vs part time dilemma.

Thanks for confirmation that either transfer case should bolt up to either engine and yes I realize flex plate will change but I believe that is all as you need older flex plate on 5.3 to work. Will be ordering a 700 r from tci and a cooler set up and might swap in 208 at this time as I believe it will work with full time no hub stock axles that are in and will be just like having hubs in gaged all the time, am I wrong? Will hopefully start on trying to do axles right after get trans in.

Transfer case fit

Tci is saying that transfer cases are different between 203 and 208 and one 700r will not fit both transfer cases! Is this true? Have same question in to him as I thought they would swap.

The output shaft on the TH350 and 700R4 are the same size and spline count but different lengths. You can use the 203 off of a TH350 on a 700R4 with a spacer I believe. Search on here for how people mount the 203 range box doublers. That should get you pictures.

Yes. That being said, all you have to do is remove the drive slugs, and install lock out hubs. It is an EASY job.

just making sure I don't just want to try and put this in rig and see if it all works for little to no money. making sure transfer case is the 208 unit that we thought earlier as has no identifying numbers or anything on it

Drain plug/temp sensor to pan so now what happens if just try to put this all in right now. Will I have to change driveline lengths as t400 is longer 21 5/8 compared to 25 plus shaft which is 6 in I believe and only 4 on 400 so within an inch I think right now 27 5/8 to 29 on 400.

That whole post was hard to read. But, As far as changing drivelines, the stock front from your $600 parts truck should work fine in the blazer. The rear one will need changed/modified if the blazer currently has a 203 in it. Reason being is the 203 has a fixed yoke at the t-case end and and the 208 has a slip yoke at the t case end.

I know when I go back and read I have asked same questions over and over but I think I have it worked out in my head now thanks for all of replies and help. It is running right now and will leave alone for next couple weeks as daughter on break and want her to be able to play while home. Will try and start removing axles tomarrow and still leaning to just order 700 and go to 208 as all are suggesting is good set up will try and swap in with axles at same time.

Now, Just to make sure you are aware, you do know that the th400 is a stronger trans in basically every way vs the 700r4 right? A "built" 700r4 is still really only a small percent better than a stock th400. But, the th400 doesnt offer an over drive and the first gear is taller than the 700r4. So for strenghth, the th400 is the best choice. For overdrive and a better geared first gear the 700r4 is a better choice.

Tci is saying their 700r will handle 400hp and even when I change to 5.3 with cam and everything I don't think I'll be past that unless blower comes into play but seriously am not the type of driver that normally breaks things with skinny petal. Haven't busted a drive line or anything for that matter in this rig and been driving it 15yrs stock. But am looking forward to building it to handle more abuse and having more fun as me and daughter were in Moab last summer and bb in that place has to be a blast and something that is definately going to be in my future endeavors. Besides who wants a jeep when you can build this thing up like some of them on here. Love zimmers thred and end product as well as several others.

Nor cal Chris said that the 700 with low gears is comparable to 400 set up with doubler and I think the 4 speed set up sounds better for most terrain I use blazer for, mainly hunting and off road adventures but not really anything normally too drastic like some of off road park obstacle courses that I've seen people doing. A washed out road is most often in better shape and I have crawled up them many times in stock rig real slow and occasionally just having to either move rocks or make ramps to help get over big crap.
