Fender hack 101 (not trim)

If there was a way for Rob to get his Blazer in the back yard without the HOA having a heart attack I am sure Rob would have crawled them long ago. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif I was joking with him about it awhile back, those are probably the only rocks in AZ Rob hasn't tried to climb in is K5. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

I like the fender hack by the way. Looks pretty awesome. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Saves me a lot of time cutting the wheel opening. Have to trim the inner fender and firewall pieces yet then shes done.

Damn, you don't mess around. /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif

That included locating my /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif/forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif/forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif

OK, my fenders are quickly becoming beat up, Carnage Gultch (BV) just made it a lot worse so I went a head and trimed them a little to help keep them off the rocks.

Until I get around to doing something drastic this "should" work fine /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif

Here is what I started with, one semi loose flap in the wind fender:

I had to use a hi-lift to bend it back where it used to be, don't laugh it worked:

Pretty much back to normal but it would have been ripped completly off the next time out:

I slapped some duct tape on to help guide my sawzall with surgeon like precision:

After cutting both innner and outer sheet metal, the inside was a little bit of a pain but not to bad, kind of fun actualy:

The finished product after a little black paint to the underside and a new bling CK5 sticker.

what was wrong with just this trim?

not sure if you are kidding but in my case, I'm running 40s with 4" of lift and don't feel like massaging the body lines and all to make it look good trimming like that. This hack took 10 minutes, I think it looks fine, soon as I remove some firewall metal and the lower door hinge it will look great. And its GOBs of clearance. Can easily see if I'm scrubbing the firewall too /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. A lot of the inner metal this removed turned out to be pretty rotten too.

Fine Job! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

I know it's old... but I just did this hack job about 5 minutes ago. It looks really weird with the doors on though. I guess the doors gotta go now. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
