Finally a man - Got my own trailer

It is supporting the fence top bar. How much support that bar needs depends on how you use the trailer. My aluminum trailer railing has no other support, but it only has to stop my buggy, or rzr from going off the front with me driving them to load.
The winch might put a little bit of strain, if load is rolling it wouldn't be much. Dragging one out of the toolies might bend the fence.
An angled tongue box might allow the support/s to run along side.

It’s just for rzr duty mainly like yours. Picking up the odd ball yard equipment rental. Tie down points are in the floor. Winch mount is going to get moved to the floor when I redeck it sometime this summer.

did they have a winch or HD tie down on the upper rail the tube is tied in to ? if so i beet it was for this use . i dont see a reason not to be there .

No plan to. Plan is to move the winch mount to the floor when I redo it so that rail is just there as a bump stop.

I'll have to get a pic but I have almost that exact truck bedside toolbox on the tongue on my trailer mounted down where your winch is and it works just fine. Even clears my weight distributing hitch mounts I put on for my wife's yukon to haul a blazer.
