MAX89K5 submitted a new Build:

Finally... my 5.3 swap

Time to start my swap thread. I hope you all can guide me through this process since I have already encountered some issues. I have been researching this swap since I had my 85 c10, so a total of about 6 years on and off. Y'all feel free to chime in with any info you think is helpful!

So here's the truck 89 K5

And now weeding through the factory wiring at the bulkhead connector. Anyone have a pinout? I ordered a 89 GM wiring manual, hopefully it will have my answers!

My engine and trans will be ready for pick up the 11th of October. 69k mile 05 5.3/4l60e, retaining my stock np241. I've got a whole slew of parts supposed to show up this week, will get y'all pics soon, I know how y'all are [emoji6]

woot! I'm no help on your stock wiring harness, but I am doing much the same as you in my 1st gen so I look forward to seeing how it goes and I'll offer help where I can.

Well, making some good progress tonight. Pulled the a.c. box off the firewall to reseal it and clean. All kinds of crap in there! What are y'all using to seal the box to the firewall? I've been thinking about butyl tape for RVs.

I plan on spraying the firewall with undercoating for a uniform look. The fenderwells and innerfenders will be semi gloss black. Ought to turn out nice [emoji6]

Oh yea and I just discovered Ospho, its some badass stuff! Treated my fenderwell where the battery was, did the trick.

Just gotta keep plugging away! I normally get 4 hours in per day, depending on work schedule and school work..

That one is for a Toyota I believe : "Part # 2PRS-TOY.Two-pulse for Toyota. Same as above, except for 22 mm metric threads, and .187 tang drive which fits Toyota transmissions and transfer cases."

"Part # 4PAC. Four-pulse sine wave."

Pretty sure this is the one, I'll definitely check out the DD one tho thanks!

Just out here screwing around and actually got something done!

This stuff worked like dream sealing the a.c. box up.

Now just to shoot this with some semi gloss and call it a night. [emoji42]

AC Delco GF822 fuel filter/regulator and EP381 fuel pump. Gonna slap these in friday night, still waiting on fuel line connectors to get here..

Also ordered an ass ton of braided split loom and cloth tape, I like this look better than standard convoluted loom.

Hoping to do a 5.3 swap myself in the near future so I'm keeping an eye on your build. Please us updated. :D

I've used that loom stuff you posted and it works well. Haven't had it long so can't speak to longevity yet.

Who can tell me definitively what I need to bolt my np241 to the 4L60E? Some say they bolt right up and some are having to use an adapter. My stock 700/241 adapter has 4 bolts on the trans side and 6 bolts on the Tcase side. I am using an inline vss in the tcase so that is not an issue.

Im automatic deficient but the 4l60e and 700r4 should be the same. The 4l60e is more or less the same trans but electronically controlled. Also your old and new combo should both be 27 spline so no issue there.

Later model 4L60E's have a 6 bolt pattern on the rear instead of 4 bolt. I would imagine you could use the factory adapter from the truck the engine/tranny came out of though. Might have to elongate one hole.
