Been about a year and a half since I tore her down for drivetrain/steering/axle upgrades. Welded in a few rust patches, etc, etc. Also gutted the interior and will clean up/replace as she goes back together. It's white with a red interior. I'm kind of restricted in paint options since the red interior kinda has to stay and the interior painted metal (dash and such) are still white. So I figured it will either stay white or some kind of red/white combo.

I know some of you may have a better color combo in mind, but I struggled to narrow it down to these three, so please vote for one of them. I've been analyzing them for a year and a half and I need some fresh eyes.

Fist pic was prior to teardown. If I paint it white, it will basically be the same except shinier and the hood will be painted. I will re-apply the side molding etc.

Second pic is my most likely choice if I 2-tone it.

Third is a factory-style 2 tone that I had considered for so long that I think I got tired of it. Please vote your opinion!

In order of what I like;

#2 - Best, nice and custom

#1 - decent but boring

#3 - dont care for the 2-tone split.

This except do the bottom Red (leaving the middle white) and the cabroof white.

This paint option I'm impartial to: My 85 in Apple Red and Quicksilver

I voted #2 because

1. I hate most factory, looks like everybody else's rig. (Unless you are doing a true restoration)

2. If you are paing good money or putting in the hard work of a paint job then make it yours. More like a rodsteration. Mostly factory but custom to you.

That's kinda why I like #2. Classy, but unique. Except that I stole it off the internet:D.

Zimmer, I know where you're going. I like that paint job, but it was almost too much red.

I like the look of solid white, but you could probably add silver or grey two tone and it would go ok with the interior. Maybe add a little pearl or metallic that only shows in the right angle?

I've never been a fan of the two tone split at the body line like #2, but to each their own.

I'm partial to the 89-91 2-tone split. I could go either way on whether the topper is white or red, but definitely smoothed and painted the same as other parts of the truck.

I like the two tone split... The red top is cheesy looking to me. If it were mine I'd do something different.

Just under the trim in red would look good. Maybe red cowl stripes.

Welp, the problem is I agree with all of you. That's why I'm having such a hard time. The vote is very close which just makes it harder. Was kinda hoping for a convincing winner.

I would go with the two tone with tube bumpers if doing a two tone and anything other than white. I like the white but we're cursed with that horrid red cloth

I think the monotone looks best. I'm of the opinion that two tones look fine on customized, lowered 2WD trucks, but on old school square bodies, simplicity reigns. The black hood adds just a touch of custom that looks good.

I guess you can tell I like RED!

But its your truck in the end, your the one who has to be happy with it (If you plan on keeping it!)

For resale value, factory looks tend to bring the best money generally.
I do like the center section secondary color of the factory options as well.

I"m not a fan of all white, looks to plain and no contrast to draw attention...its also a bad body work coverup color...flaws tend to not be as noticeable in white.

I would try to work some red in the mix somewhere. Plain white just has no "personality" to me.

I agree with both of you. There's nothing wrong with white except that it's very plain and it's what I've been used to for 12 years. I don't think I want to sink paint money into it to have the same plain white truck. I've been leaning toward #2 because it's a little custom, but not over the top. And yes, this truck and I are in it or the long haul. That may be way I'm putting so much mental strain into this. I've got to live with the decision indefinitely.

if your in it for the long haul just run the one that's been nagging at the back of your mind the most and do it different later down the road if it isn't quite right. use a good epoxy primer and epoxy single stage white/red. then if you don't like it later on, the GOOD layers are done already so the next change could be a simple wet sand and apply new color.

Keep in mind too that if you do ever decide to sell it going with a "custom" look, it has to be just the right person.

Oh..... and you guys need to pump the brakes with the bashing of the white!! Mine's white, and she's purdy!
