I found a father/son shop that did mostly insurance work, but take on a couple of projects a year. The son's logic was "nobody asks who painted the Honda Accord, but if they see a good paint job on a cool car, they'll ask". Makes sense.
I had welded in a half dozen panels to repair some relatively minor rust and bodyworked just those areas. They sanded the rest of the truck down to bare metal, body work, primer, blocked it, sealed it, two-toned it (including jambs and new hood top and bottom), and put on 3 coats of clear.
I asked what a reasonable paint job would cost on here a while back because I was dealing with sticker shock. I was expecting $1500ish. Turns out, it was a deal at 3K for all they did.
