Fitech repair

I’ve done 6 FiTech installs, all of them have been solid. Only issue has been a couple coolant temp sensors were out of spec.

Did they tell you why it failed and how to keep it from failing again?

I think I would at least ask them if there's anything you can do to prevent it in the future.

When stuff like this comes up it makes you wonder how much testing they did before they released the product onto the market. Hopefully they are transparent with you and give you advice to prevent any issues in the future. Like I said before, it makes me a little uneasy daily driving my truck with my fitech, because if it fails, the truck is DOA.

thats why im keeping the carb this time blow it out with carb cleaner then air and get a carb box to store it in
and take it with me so i can fix it if it fails again. pin but worth it i think.

when i drove to Vegas it took 3 tanks of gas to get there..........

this is on there web site. so i emailed techmail. and see what they say

I just had another positive experience with the FITech EFI Tuning Forum over the weekend. Wondering about wire gauges to the fuel pump. Other folks had had similar issues and workarounds...FiTech I think definitely cut some expenses they shouldn't have...in this case running a 14 ga wire from the unit to the pump with no relay....easy install and cheaper, but not done right. Lot of those units out there, so a lot of good info on that site. I haven't updated my firmware ever (4+ years) but I guess I should... i just hate to mess with it if it's running good. And you guys are saying it's a pain, so it's going to be a real pain for someone with my computer skills. I'm happy when I get a post up here without three tries. I may start carrying a spare carb with me, also....you guys are planting the seeds of doubt in my mind. Or maybe just watering the seeds that were already there.

this was the answer from the tech at fitech

Nothing you can do.

The heat soak would be in the ECU.

Possibly to hot for the solder. So a newer ecu replaced it to correct the error.

Thanks,

i was looking at installing a fitech until i started reading about all the issues people have had with them, now im looking into a Holley Sniper.

At what point do you just decide to go LS?

holleyt sniper has just as many issues as fitech and if it is for ls get factory ecu re-programed.
there is a moderator on fitech Facebook group very adamantly against fitech ls system.

Are you still running a fuel command center?

At this point I still consider going to a gm tbi setup with EEPROMs considering my heads have both intake manifold bolt patterns. Maybe cheaper to do before LS or 4bt
