Fixing my K5 impulse buy

My impulse buy 84 K5, definitely need help.
Next time you go. If(you go to spring Jefferson.) Let me know. Maybe we can meet. I go most spring and fall.
If nothing else I go just to get out of the house, get some exercise and look at some junk.
We plan on going to the fall Jefferson Swap Meet. Once a year is enough of that type of craziness.

Alan, is there any hard debris in that trans pan?
Maybe hit the pan with some solvent and then pour it through a clean shop towel to define it more?

My new role at work has me over a bunch of Wisconsin hospitals. I’ll definitely have to check this out. Supposed to be in Madison right now. Bailed last night before my flight due to chest cold/flu.

Yeah Zimmer, don't take this the wrong way but I thought of you when I was draining and cleaning pan. When cleaning the pan there didn't seam to be any particles only very fine material.

Wahaha, perfect! Ive had a few of them off its true.
Was the material aluminum or like clutch fiber material?

Ok, if that pan has NEVER been off before, some small bits of aluminum casting flash material isn't unusual. I worked at a GM dealer in 80-82 and took off many pans that showed that. If its anything more than that it could be an issue with some aluminum parts or the case itself getting worn by internal parts.

Yeah wanted to be able to roll it so couldn't kick it from the floor.

The bolts that were supposed to hold the transfercase to the transmission went into the transmission (after crushing the lame lock washer) 7/16". I plan on tapping the transmission out to 7/16 fine thread and using longer bolts with blue locktite. I know it's not diesel but it's either loctite or anti seize.

Found a receipt form 19 years ago for the tires. They seem to be holding up pretty well.

I haven't put a battery in it and checked the tail lights but I'm wondering if the PO didn't put a newer harness for the fuel pump and it doesn't match the tail light plug.
