Fixing up my old milk barn.

Thanks for sharing this, gives me inspiration to take on a project. Looks like it'll make a great shop. What are the overall dimensions (maybe I missed it)? Do you have plans to heat it eventually?

That looks like a decent building. What's the floor look like? Replacing the windows or covering them up?

The building is 36'x28'. I have an old natural gas heater up at my old man's place that I could switch to propane, but it isn't a top priority yet.

The floor isn't great. It was originally a milk barn, so the floor wasn't level, and there were two troughs running down the middle of the floor. The previous owner cut the old stanchions off at the ground, so the old tubes are still in the cement. He did however pour cement into the troughs. It isn't perfect, but is paved. As for the windows, I would like to replace them eventually, especially if I get around to heating it, but for now I just replaced all of the missing panes.

It's not quite big enough, so I had to do the water pump on this 4840 outside.

All this farm stuff is really making me miss being out in the country.

Ive got an unstyled B John Deere, and a styled G JD too btw

Looks great. Our welding shop is a converted milk barn and we did the same thing, pull the stanchions and fill the troughs. It's not a perfect concrete floor for a creeper, but it's better than nothing.:thumb:

Long time no update.

I have been using this barn off and on as a shop, but sadly I have a bad habit of just throwing junk in there. The clutter has made it damn near unusable. It doesn't help that it is too narrow really. I should knock the inner walls out for the bulk tank room. Would make it much better inside. The other problems are that it is poorly wired, and poorly lit. I have thrown a few lights in it (cheap florescents), but I need to wire them up more properly. I have bought the wire and some of the boxes and switches, I just need to do it.

I did wire up a yard light on the front, that is a nice addition.

Here is a shot of a few of the florescent lights. The one is a take out from a house that was going in the iron pile. I got three of those. Two of which work. I need to run a separate switch, to actual outlets above them to plug into.

As a child, I thought Tom Sawyer was crazy for pawning off the work of whitewashing the picket fence. I thought painting was great fun.

Now I am more on Tom Sawyer's side.

As you can see, it really needs painted. Should brighten it up even more.

It did feel good painting over that though....

I would have taken more pictures, but my phone died.

It is on its very last leg. It doesn't tell you how much charge it does or does not have any more, and charging it is a bit of a trick.
