Finally running around. Took some quick pics just to see how everything worked out before it got too dark.

This was the best I could find locally but I have a few small bugs to work out. Tires fit real fine lock to lock while stuffed. I might even be able to fit some 42" even although it would be tight.

The 52" front springs give about 4.5" of lift and I have a 1" body lift. Front axle is moved forward about 3.25". I plan on moving the rear back about 2" or so. I just have the room.

I'm still getting used to the front end.

I seated the bushing bolts in with an impact and havnt backed them off yet and it still flexes pretty good!

This guy did the fab work:

CBI OffRoad Fab

That cage bolts to the floor with more tubes that run through and down to the frame. I'm real happy with the work. Took about a month as the whole thing was basically a custom job. Good price too.

did you keep the stock centering pin on the 52's?
did you use a zero rate as well and move it forward.

Ok...

I'll post some more pics tonight of the front springs and some info of what I did. I'll also post some pics of it juust sitting there as some people have asked.

I plan on putting plates and insurance back on it and seeing what happens.

To move the axle forward, The spring swap moves it 2" forward on its own. I also have the spring perches redrilled 1.25" back to move the axle forward again. I ran the redrilled perches in Moab last year with no problems so I decided to stay there. The tire gets real close to the firewall when its stuffed all the way and turned in. 42's might need some clearancing to work all of the way. So basically I am running 5.5" of lift total with full flex on the 40's.

I have room to move the rear axle back 2" so I am going to work on that next. I might just redrill the perches again, I have not decided yet.

Okay, what is the advantage of moving axles forward(for the front) and backwards (for the rear)? Also, how do you do it. And those springs are from the rear, you put them in the front and they gave you some lift, and moved your axle ahead 2 inches? Sorry, I'm not very smart with this kind of stuff... still learning /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Moving the front axle forward will give you a better approach angle and will allow you to run a larger tire with less lift. The rear springs are longer than the stock front springs so it is flexier and provides about 4.5" of lift. They are cheap too. Those pics are with the shackles cranked down with an impact gun. To fit the longer springs, You move the front spring mount forward. This in turn moves the axle forward.

The rear axle going back helps the departure angle and moves the center of gravity forward on the axle giving it some better climbing ablility.

Wow, thats awesome. I may think about doing that You said stock rear springs give 4.5" of lift up front and move your axle forward. Is there anything else besides the rear springs I need to get this set-up /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You might want a better rear shackle setup. I already had Off Road Designs Greasable shackels so I drilled out the holes in the lower ends to fit a 9/16 bolts and used some Grade 8, 5" bolts to hold it all together. Instead of using washers to fill in the bushing gap, I cut the ends off of the old bushings and stuffed them in there.

You will want to go to crossover steering as well as the draglink may not go that short.

Yes, Im planning on cross-over steering as soon as I can get enough money. So thats basically all... I use the rear shackles but drill new holes so they fit in the front and use bolts to hold them up. Thanks, your a good man Sandman /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
