I finally convinced myself I need more room for project work, storage, and a place to have a lift....so this is happening..

36x48x14 pole building
6/12 roofing with attic truss rafters
16x24 lift stall
20x24 work area
24x36 storage area
2-10x10 overheads
1-10x12h overhead
no windows
10K auto/truck lift
A/C and Heat
Interior drain
Exterior drain system (a requirement due to location and layout of my existing driveway and the new driveway
Stairwell to upper floor storage area
100 amp electrical service

project started months ago, but breaking ground today.

Also looking for some artwork incorporating a flying rat with wings and a helmet/goggles, maybe in a truck or a hotrod..any ideas?

Nice to see this project getting to the destruction phase. How long until it's winter-proof? You gonna knock out the whole thing in the next few weeks? Or is this a next-year project?

so jealous.

And it looks like you have two other garages already?

fyi buddy you were at my shop for the trannys and adaptor .

my lift is a 10k and 12ft celling . . . its dam tight in there .

the 13ft you have planned will give that tiny bit extra room for lift setup/install . but if your picking stuff up and working with hoods open / cap on truck bed / stuff like that go the bit taller of around 15ft in the lift section of the celling .

otherwise your just a little bigger than my shop mine is 28deep 50wide inside. with 12ft lift bay and 9' 6" rest of shop.

long story short: my main contractor got a 3 week setback from an overlooked electric co. easement that the township missed, so the homeowners had to wait for a variance hearing before he could proceed with their barn build. so that puts him a couple weeks behind schedule on mine...we were supposed to break ground a week ago. still hoping to have it weather tight by Nov. 1st. then I got a bunch of work to do inside to make it usable as a shop.

Yes nice shop Brett!
The lifts I've been looking at are 144-148" tall, so 12'-12'4", that is why we went 13'. I'll have to watch the vehicle while lifting...The 12' tall door will fit anything I have in it, including the Maiden on the trailer.

You can never have enough garage space, good luck on your build Dave!

true that Greg!
Its already too small...

the finished up today by starting to fill in with sand from my back lot...its full of it. Their estimate was for 250 yds of fill sand trucked in @ $3150, should save me a bunch by using what I already have in my back yard!

Yes, hence the saying you can never have too much space! I've got a couple vehicles sitting out right now, and the winters and summer sun take a beating on them over time, it will be nice to get them inside and also have room to work on a project without having to dig out everything stuffed in around it.

So awesome!!
I'm hoping so Rene', this should set me up for retirement (as soon as I get it paid for) and keep me active in the shop...something that is important to not just be sitting around waiting to die!

Pretty bad ass Dave!

The size you're talking is gona be an awesome shop.

thanks guys, I'm excited about it now! Up til now its been moving stuff out of the way to prepare, now stuff's happening!
Ordering the timbers, bags of setting concrete, girts, purlins, mudboards, and roofing/siding steel Tues.
Trusses have already arrived.

That will be a great place to retire!
Good for for you Dave! :thumb:

That's what I'm thinking Dean...I don't spend as much time as I'd like in the shop right now, but hopefully when I retire I'll still be in good health and able to spend as much time as I want keeping up with all my junk!

You're not cutting into the trail are ya?

No, that was a must to keep that open, they are digging into the side of that hill, but up on top the main trail remains and they will finish off the area with the top soil removed...of which there really wasn't much anyway.

not only free sand for job . . . . . more parking area / play area / camp out area .
No plans for it, but I'm sure the trucks will be playing out there again!

Why no windows?

Martin
Windows are opportunity for thieves.

tool security is my guess
That too!

no tell motel ................ no windows to look in and see the
Yeah not like I have to worry about that these days!
