FNG here.....Wasn't sure where to make the first post.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on dropped drag links? Are they really better or should I just get the stock one?

Do you already have a raised steering arm? Steering arm is first imo, and then drop draglink, both combined should get you where you need to be for 6-7” of lift.

can you post pic of steering geometry?

I measured my lift at 4.5 inches IIRC axle tube to frame. The drag link tips back towards the rear of the vehicle. Also the bushing is nowhere to be found looks to be a steepish anglenon it. It’s got the raised steering arm and possibly a dropped pitman. Still just a slight angle that must be causing the bushing to wear out

My .02 is don't dump money into the push pull system. If it works. leave it. Otherwise cross it over

I honestly love the steering on this thing. I can turn on a dime. It puts my Tacoma to shame. In fact I hate driving my Tacoma now after driving this.

Only wondering about the drag link and if I should get a dropped one to save on wear. Or if it steers great as is should I just get the ol’ Stocker replaced?

Angle isnt horrible but a drop draglink would get that flat.

its been years since ive looked at a stock 4wd pitman arm, but i think thats a stock one.

doesnt look like the draglink has a boot on DLE to pitman arm connection, or maybe not be seated properly. That could be causing slop/play.

Unless the ends are shot, I'd just leave it

Yeah tans what I’m saying. The boot is completely gone so the grease doesn’t stay locked in. I’ll just replace it with a stocker since this is worn out.

Just get a replacement stock drag link end, should fix it. I would test fit new DLE in pitman arm to make sure it seats completely. If it doesnt seat properly, may need to ream out the pitman arm (if stock, shouldnt be necessary).

Yup, like they already told you, that's a stock pitman arm. And from what we learned from Stephen from ORD, you don't have to have the drag link flat at ride height. There's a thread about it somewhere on here.
And just remember that these trucks will always have a little feeling that they are sloppy when compared to newer vehicles, especially IFS. The springs will let the axle move some and dull the response to steering input.

Don't touch this. If you do anymore correction the steering will suffer.
I had a steering arm that was too tall and put the drag ling horizontal, it was awful and after a year I decided to change the steering arm to lower and now it is the same angle you have and drives like a dream

Ideally you would want the steering arm parallel with the front half of the leaf spring or slightly lower in the back since the center of the axle is lower than the leaf spring. For a vehicle that is driven on the road only I think a push pull system is just fine, because it doesn't put a side load on the leaf springs.

Now when you start going offroad and/or getting a lot of articulation then a crossover system with a much longer arm will have less bump steer over longer wheel travel range. But actually, for just street driving, a stock system may have less bump steer because the axle moves up in down in a forward arc with the leaf spring, not a sideways arc(that's why most vehicles with crossover steering also have panhard bars). It's just that too much travel on that short of arm (stock) creates too much angle, which causes issues.

The drop drag links are junk. Like the others said, get some stock replacement ends and run that as is.
