For those that have had both in a truck, BBC or SBC?

of course i could be a devils advocate here and if youre just after torque..... you could always swap a 4-53T into the bay. or, if youre really nuts, find an aluminum block 6v53T military Detroit Diesel. Throw a 5 speed spicer manual behind it, and youve got 700+ lbsft of torque. and sweet mary mother of god if youve ever heard one of those spool up to max rpm.... and you could even jake brake it for going down hill......

course im just a diesel nut... i LOVE my 6.2L, and have been inspired by the heath performance diesel 300hp 6.5TD. if only i had the money to act on such inspiration ;)

No argument about how cool those old 2-stroke detroits are. I used to work in a reman shop and we built alot of the 6v53's and 8v92's for the military. Along with some large Cummins VT525's...903CI of bada**

I just cant see a 6v53 fitting in any pickup, blazer. Thise things have a 6-71 blower and a large turbo. Plus unless you REALLY REALLY know what you are doing it would be a PITA to fix. You really have to know Detroits to work on one.

But man does a 6v53 sound amazing when you get it wound up, They are actualy louder than the 8v92's which is the same engine design with 2 more cylinders.

An 8V92 is not the "same engine design with two more cylinders" in comparison to a 6V53.

Yeah man...they pretty much are, tear one of each down all the way and build it back up and its allmost all the same. Sure the 8v92 has 92 CI per cylinder an 8-71 blower and the 6v53 has 53 ci per cylinder and a 6-71 blower the only main difference is that all the 53 series are dry liners and all the 92 series are wet liners. All the parts are obviously different but the design is almost identical, the heads are built the same way, you set the racks in the heads the same way, etc... Hell the 6v53 and the 6v71 share a ton of parts.

I hate arguing online man but in a 3 year span i did dozens and dozens of complete remans to include full dyno tests on those engines along with a variety of cummins 250's, VT400's and 525's, John Deer 6076's, Cat 3408's, 3306's and a variety of others by Oman, Allis chalmers, case, etc...

Sweetk30: I stand corrected, must be a tight fit, but very awsome to see one in a truck. That thing must haul, the Marine Corps run them in our LAV's and i believe they can get up past 50mph. Those last 2 videos were off a 6v92 which is larger than a 6v53 and of a 4-53 which is still the same series as a 6v53 only not a v-config and a 4cylinder.

I will be getting a EFI system for my BBC when income tax money comes in. I have heard a lot of good things about http://www.fuelairspark.com/ from my drag racing friends. For 2200.00, I will give the EZ-EFI kit a shot.
