? for those with clocked flat t-cases

You use an adapter kit like you do with a 203/205 setup. Basically you hack off the back half of a 241 and weld on a new aluminum adapter plate to the back of the 241. Then you bolt the 205 to the 241 with a new intermediate shaft. Same idea as the other doublers except you cant unbolt the 241 range box, you have to cut it off and have an adapter tig welded to the case half.

(cough Atlas cough)

Altas is to money for most people though. For $700 give or take depending on the price of a 241 & 205 you can have 5.3:1 and have a 3 spd case with triple stick. Try that with an Atlas or Stak. Sure they are cooler an stronger but cheap and deep is cool too. :D

Atlas has many options for gearing, and they have the 4 speed. As for price, I dont think its that big of a difference when it comes down to a few hundred bucks.

Back to fixing the driveline problem;)

Harley, you know of a place that makes the adapter kit? sounds like a descent set up. i have a few 241s and older 205s sitting here. thanks

I did it the cheap way. I have my 241 clocked as high as it will go.

I ground out a stock CV. I have 8" springs up front in the stock location. haven't broken it yet. and if it does, so what, I have $0 invested in it.

I plan on doing a one inch body lift and poly mounts but im sure ima have to notch out the floor a lil bit, when i clock my 208 (still gotta put a transmission b/t the tcase and the motor)

you would need to cut the floor right?? for that

I have a 2" bodylift and there is lots of room between the t-case and the floor. about an inch or so. :D the exhaust is the problem. I have mine run between the floor and the t-case. some people have managed to squeeze it inside the frame rail, but the fuel and brake lines are right there.

If I only had a 1" bodylift I would have to get real creative with exhaust routing and maybe the floor. nothing a big hammer wouldn't fix.

There is a link in one of my above posts over to Pirate for D.D. Machine that sells the kits.

Here it is: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=456669

I have my 208 clocked all the way up in my truck. I did smash the floor to fit and then smacked the floor down where I dented it up to much. My 208 clocking lands right below the left front seat mount in my K5 and I don't think I will be able to bolt a stock seat back in without modding the seat mount.

A buddy with a Suburban did the same thing and he didn't have the problem because of the bench seat I believe.

Have you priced a 4spd Atlas? $2895 from a couple different sites I saw.

The 241/205 rockbox is actually a 4spd case too, not a 3spd like I said earlier. The 203/205 is a 3spd. If you chose the Atlas with the higher ratios you have almost the exact same reduction numbers as a 241/205.

Atlas= 1:1, 2:1, 2.72:1, 5.44:1
$2895

241/205 rockbox= 1:1, 1.96:1, 2.72:2, 5.33:1
$1000 or less.

1/3 the price for the same ratios for all practical purposes.

so the D D kit can be used for the 241 and 205? just want make sure i got this right

Check through the post and figure out which 205 you need. I don't remember right off if you need a round pattern or fig. 8 pattern, but yes you can bolt a 205 up to the 241 rockbox.

I believe for max clearence with the 241/205 rockbox for a passenger side front axle you get the most clearence by cutting and clocking a drivers drop 241.
