ford truck 1942

Holy jeepers, still that much snow hanging around! We're cooking here, 29 C today and supposed to be the same or hotter through the rest of the week. I'm not complaining, it's just so early. We smashed about 20 different weather records in April too.

Obviously global warming! We've had a great spring I think...cooler than normal, rainy, fine by me!

getting there slowly, missing 1 wheel bearing to get it rolling. so put some time on the driver side door weatherstripping and door latch and regulator.

diggin the work Brian, such a cool truck being a 42, gotta be a rare bird with the war having stopped civilian production shortly after this truck was built....are you going to run those tires?

no i,m looking for 19.5 wheels. i,m going to install 2 front radial 19.5 tires,if i don,t find any wheels a machine shop priced me for changing the centre bolt pattern.
in the rear i will put back 750-20 . plans are to have a dump bed, haul a little gravel, firewood yard cleaning a toy!

well back at it plan on getting the front end straighten up. hopefully in some kind of primer sealer . then take motor apart for a rebuilt ,not sure what i will find. it might be stones and rings or bored with over size piston!

got paint remover and stripped the hood and right fender.

and bought 4 tires .

Awesome project, I'm glad to see continued progress on it!!

got the hood painted out side. epoxyied the fenders and grille. painted the front frame.
heres my bondo guy!

got the motor apart, gonna need tender love and care! anybody here got parts for a flat head mainly front pulley!

got engine apart crank needs atleast a polish, bearings show lots of brass. cylinders are round but theres a good ridge. i brought it to a shop last monday ,3hrs drive to get there. it was -22 C so the guy said to cold for measurements,he said he will phone! no news yet on motor. waiting on cost of engine before starting on transmission, and other stuff! i hear they can be expensive!
so with nothing better to do i spent quality time removing tires. just as good as going to the gym!

3 weeks later engine guy phone back, i told him to go ahead. he will bore it grind crank polish was not enough. so i,m searching for a pulley mine is wore out where seal spins! anybody got a line on a good use one i,m interested!

got my 4 rear wheels painted.

took my transmission apart gears were worn, lucky i had another one .

Any chance of using a speedy sleeve on that pulley?
Good to see you back at it Brian

its a strange kinda system. seals were probably not very good, and the fact its a 2 piece seal. theres a kinda tread on the crank pulley seal surface,to pull oil back inside the engine. i guess the less oil that reached the seal the less likely to leak! transmission front input shaft is the same i,ll take a picture its in better shape . theres no seal at all on the transmission input shaft ,i suppose thicker oil and oil level is lower. if you look closely at the picture you can see whats left of the treads.

a few more steps! got my 4 tires mounted, installed the 2 front ones just to get it rolling. got my transmission back together, waiting on a rear seal. put the part transmission back together just to keep parts together. no news on motor 2 weeks monday!

this is the front seal, well theres no seal!
