Forum is for 69-72... will my new 68 K20 qualify?

That’s a great deal you got on that!:waytogo:
I’ll gladly watch to see what you do with it.

Do you happen to know what crops the farmer you got it from grows? Quite the stance on the Deere in the pics!

Thanks for all the props, gentlemen.

ordered my first parts order from LMC... heater box seal kit and defroster hoses.

I’m sure it’s been covered in other threads but is LMC my best source for parts or should I shop Classic and Brothers or other suggestions?

My son and I use Classic Industries and GMC Paul's, then LMC for things that only they seem to have.

I spend a lot of time in Las Cruces, brotherhood dinner on me at Adele’s dog house next time I’m down.
Sounds good! Adele's is good food. We get takeout there regularly

I've been working on the heater as well. I bought the heater gasket set from LMC several years ago and the gasket between the inside firewall and box didn't match my old on. I'm going to use my old one with some strip caulk.

I somehow wound up with 2 of the round gaskets. ? Neither one would work without putting a lot of pressure on the box. I was afraid I was going to crack the box if I tightened it down. So I trimmed it down. Seen to have a good seal.

Ditto on GMC Pauls. I also have been ordering some interior parts from American Classic. American Classic Truck Parts for Chevrolet & GMC Trucks LMC is my last resort as well.
.

I have used classicparts.com on parts before, they used to be called Chevy Duty but of course there was an issue with trademarking.

My thought was give LMC a go this time since they were the first to get my catalog to me and they aren’t cheap to print.

I appreciate the other supplier names and websites.

I’m old school, I like a book to read and reference.

Yes, the LMC catalog is handy!

Great story. Kinda funny how many people wanted it but couldn’t raise the cash...
You were the most determined. Good luck on getting a bed. I’m sure you will have no problem finding a nice one.

I love seeing old trucks like this in original "time capsule" condition..
It is so rare now to find an unmolested one..

I had a '71 GMC with a 8 foot fleetside bed and it had a wooden floor--but I cant swear the bad was original..I think GM had wood bed floors available up till 1972..(StepSide beds had them much longer,my '82 GMC has an 8 foot wooden floored StepSide bed)..

Years ago I had a 1972 Chevelle "Nomad" Wagon on a '69 K10 Suburban chassis that had the Rockwell transfer case..everyone thought it had a blower on it,the gear whine they made sounds almost the same..should have kept that car,it had a 454 I put in it and with the divorced Rockwell T-case ,it would have been easy to put any automatic or manual transmission in it..

That steel pipe on the upper radiator hose is factory,I had three trucks that still had them ,the 71 GMC,a '72 K5 and a '71 K5--and I have a NOS pipe still hanging around I found in the cab of a junked C-10 at the salvage yard years ago--still had the sticker on it!--I used it for a short time, then found out a upper hose from a '71 Monte-Carlo fits perfectly on the 67-72 series V8 trucks..

Your absolutely right about "Time capsule". The pictures have so much valuable information! You see how things looked from the factory.

I think you may have got the blower rubber seal on the wrong side. It installs from the engine compartment side. Maybe that’s why it would fit right? Or maybe the picture is just not clear.

After you pointed this out, I believe that you are correct.
The round seal is supposed to be glued on the outer perimeter of the blower housing inlet. At least I have found them glued on. This way it is located by the blower housing and sandwiched between it and the firewall.

So the flat side glues to the outer firewall with the bell facing outward. That figures, when there is a problem with fitment or something functioning properly, I'm usually the common denominator. :dunno:

mine was just stretched over the blower motor housing. No glue. The flappy part seals against the sheet metal.

I don't remember ever finding them glued to the firewall, just the blower housing. Glue probably isn't neccessary once installed, but every one that I have pulled apart has had glue on the one side.
And it may be just fine as you have done it. Only time will tell.
