ok i found a 1980 long bed 4x4 3/4 chevy out behind the dairy that looks like a parts truck. at one time it looked like someone's play thing and it got put out to pasture. now i can tell it has a 14bolt in it, but i dont know if its a semi or ff. and the front is a 10 bolt but its got 8 lugs. now my question is what kind of 14b am i looking at and is the 10 bolt 8 lug any stronger axle wise than my 86 10 bolt 6 lug? i know its got 8 lugs just for the 3/4 set up but i didnt know if the axle was any better. oh and its sticker says it got a 350 in it but i can clearly see a big block so i will get more info on that. oh and no tranny or t-case. sorry for no pics. just moved and havent hooked everything up yet

for the 14b if it has hubs sticking out past the wheel mounting surface then it is a full floater... but if it doesnt then its a semi floater. at least i'm pretty sure thats how it goes.

and as far as i know the front 10b is the same strength axle wise as a 1/2 version.. just has 8 lugs.

anyone correct me if i'm wrong here

also a quick ID of the shape of the pumpkin will tell you. just reference the axle id chart on the home page.

ya it has those big chrome hub covers so i couldnt tell if it was a ff or a semi. i will get more info on it and let yall know. thanks

if it has bolts on the hubs (6 or 8 forgot which one) its a ff..if it is a semi it won't it will have something similar to like a notch

this is a ff setup im talking about
