Frankenburb the 1978? 1984? Suburban

https://www.amazon.com/Jtech-2825-White-Lights-Bulb/dp/B00877SL2M

These are the ones I've used in multiple 90's fords and in my '78. Super cheap and last very well. I actually just had a spare set i ordered show in the mail last week. I like to have some in stock.

Oh and while you're on Amazon order yourself an NV4500 shifter, they're only $50:deal:

Too late, I already built a shifter. :deal:

I had much dimmer luck with both sets of leds, one from Amazon and one from superbrightleds. Neither were brighter than stock bulbs, they were just bluer. :dunno:

I'll call the people about the tachometer later this week, but I think I found a picture of what the earlier font tachometer they sell looks like. If it indeed looks like this it'll match my speedometer perfectly.

And this is it installed in the guy's cluster:

It does, hopefully mine will look that good. Ordered it Tuesday.

Got some paint I ordered today. Started repainting emblems and hub caps. Here's the first one (with the original unpainted for comparison).

Repainted gold on hub cap, I'm going to let it dry 24 hours before masking for the black.

Nice work on that!!

Thanks! I got both fender emblems done now. Time to look through my pile of Suburban emblems and find the best one. I've used gold paint before for these, but I think the paint I got today is almost a dead on match for the original color. I like it better too.

My tachometer came today. It looks great! I haven't modified my cluster yet. This is mainly because I think I'll have to refurbish one of my other holders. I've been reading that they changed to the electronic oil pressure gauge in 1978 and the holder I refurbished is for a mechanical oil pressure gauge.

Does anyone know if all 1978 model year trucks had electronic oil pressure, or was it introduced part way through the production run? It doesn't look like my truck had the mechanical gauge that I can tell. It looks like it had the clock and all electronic gauges, but I'm not 100% sure since it didn't have any dash components when I bought it.

And here's the pictures I bet everyone was waiting for:

So my plan had been to have the paint completely stripped, body work done, and ready for paint by this time of year. Sadly I wasn't able to get it to that point. Life and the weather getting too hot prevented me from getting there. Progress on the truck has been pretty much at a stand still.

Today I decided to do something. I got a bunch of water and some fans and installed some of my sound deadening/heat shield. It's noico brand, but just like dynamat. I was able to get this much in before I ran out of foil tape and had enough of baking outside.

I need to pull the console bracket down to get behind it. I thought I had more foil tape, but I can't find it. The advantage to it being so hot is I was able to lay the sheets of Noico in the sun and they were pliable and easy to work with.
