Frankenliner build thread. Up for sale.

How much did you feel the load that the semi was towing? That is a lot of weight, curious how well it preformed empty vs loaded down.

Drives better loaded. They are designed to run loaded. Brakes workbetter loaded also.

The way it was, 47.5k. 80k is a full load With a trailer. Empty the truck was 21k. It is rated alone to 52k.

If I take 4k off, it should be at 17k. Camper is 2.25k. Jimmy is just short of 7k. So a total of 26k. Just over half of GVW. Truck will not know it's there and may ride a little rough.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

6.5 on a good day. I'm ok with that. As easy as it is to drive and go up and down hills, it's worth every penny.

Wow. Seemed like the ultimate rig. But understandable if it won't be useful. Is there anything salvage able worth keeping off the old set up
Why can you just jump the blazer on the back of the rig. My son does it all the time

Yes on the materials. Nothing is getting tossed.

I can't jump it because our mutual friend here wants too much for a 5.3.

That's the way my truck was before I blew it up. I only drove it once or twice a week so it wasn't that bad.

Things are changing again.

Since we will not be traveling a lot, the 5th wheel is going away. So the semi is getting somework done.

I am in the process of cutting everything off of the top. Mounting a 8.5' Lance camper on the back and adding a couple of feet in length. The Jimmy will sit behinf the camper. I just hope the 6500 pound truck is not too much of a counter balance.

Let me know if you need some weekend help.

More demo today.

It is always interesting how a build evolves overtime. Spend a lot of time getting a build just the way you wanted it only to discover that your needs change or there is a more functional way of achieving the defined needs.

No. It's in my brothers barn.

Spent today building the frame the camper will sit on. Now it's too heavy for me to move. Reusing the material I cut off. 2x4x3/16 tubing.

Pictures of the camper frame. 2x4x3/16 steel salvaged from the removed car hauler rack. 48"x100". It's upside down on the bench. Too heavy for 2 people to move. Or my wife and I are too old.

Camper is on the semi. Have some retainer plates and the final tie downs to do. Rework some brackets that I new would have to be changed.
