The pic doesn't work for me but if it's the oil slinger that goes by the big pinion bearing that's a high pinion only thing.

Na, It has the slinger under the large pinion bearing. This "pinon baffle" seems to go on under the preload shims.

I wondered the same thing when I worked on my Dana 60:

I didn't have one either, and I left it as it was without the baffle.
