front hitch winch?

Only hangs below the front bumper about 1.75" and really doesn't affect approach anlgle. Atleast for the type of wheeling I do.

Of course he failed to mention that his type of wheeling includes places like Gold mtn, John bull, and Last chance canyon!!!

How it bolts to the frame

You had better get a longer bolt in there... you should see a minimum of 2 threads sticking out past the nut on those bolts for the strongest connection. Luckily its primary loading is actually in shear and not tension. But I wouldn't leave it that way.

Yeah, that's the "Lazy Bastard" in me right there. If I replaced those shorter bolts it would have been the third or fourth time to the hardware store that day for various crap and when I noticed them I just said fock it.:doah::eek1:. I'll replace them when the whole hitch rips my front end off one of these days.:D Not to mention, IIFC, they are about 5/8" or 3/4" bolts so the beef is there threads showing or not.:wink1:

here is a pic of it mounted in the bed for rear pulls and you can see the receiver built into his front bumper for front pulls

Looks too high on the vehicle....

Here is my setup. I just used an adjustable hitch with some minor modifications. Rated at 5k(probably not enough for the Burb, but works for now) and bolted in with grade 8 hardware. Really isnt as cool as the other setups, but cost was 100 bucks plus a few hours of time:D

that really kills your approach angle.

i just removed my "custom, previous owner installed" front bumper from my truck and will be doing a mount under a stock front bumper and using this thread for ideas.
