Front shock relocation discussion thread.

Kind of a crappy pic but I put the Ford shock tower back on the frame.

Had to measure to get it right. It wasn't much of an angle either. Unfortunately I always had cheap shocks.

No major hacking needed. Here's mine with Ford shock towers. You can see how little trimming was needed on the inner.

that is essentially how mine was. just a little chop cut turn angle and weld on the tower to get it where I needed it.

This is worthwhile to emphasize. Once you start going off the vertical, you lose dampening quickly (if my trig is right, at 45* you've lost 30%.) With soft springs and/or soft shocks, it's like having no shocks at all. BTDT :(

From what I have seen, at 45* you lose half of the dampening. And likewise for every degree of angle the shock is at.

It was originally full hydro. Went away because I liked driving it to the trails.

I've not noticed a problem, mine cruises 65 as nice as you please. And, that's with S10 leaves in the front with a 6.2 sitting on them. I drive it all over and it's 2 1/2 hours each way to wheel. Did you have issues at speed or just concerned about losing a line at an inopportune time? I know I'm not SUPPOSED to do it but it drives great.

Good thing we got that figured out. I was thinking crap, I could not blink at 65 without changing lanes.

Cantilevered cross over with hydro assist FTW.

3/16 plate added and various gussets. Next will be air bumps and limiting straps with more gussets.
