Front support B4 Narrowing.... Hood Cutting 4/7

Got it all tied together. Not sure on the black tube going back just YET? You think I need it in case I bash in the tube and it would keep it from folding over??:confused:

I vote no on the black tube, it's starting to be too much. It's just to hold the fender up and mount a light and with how narrow it is I really doubt you'll hit the fender anymore.

I agree with Avery. I like how its all coming together, should be pretty clean once its all buttoned up.

I was going to vote no on the whole light thing. Mine I think is mabey just a touch wider than yours maybe about the same and I wish that I had gone as far in as I reasonably could have.

Looks cool for sure though, no real reason to have the black tube in there.

At some point you are just adding weight with out much real benefit.

Thanks, I did start thinking about all this extra weight going on.

Me too. I think you have inspired me to cut up my core support and go this route.

Cut it up so you can ditch it?!

Its so easy to mount the rad without the core support, I used the original lower mount ( cut off the core support) and made brackets the upper originals bolt to. mounts with stock components but no core support

On the fenders, where you are mounting the front make sure that the area on the fender is supported very well. even adding a couple of braces between the inner and outer skin would be good.

Thats how I mounted mine the first time I did it, the fenders ended up pulling away and breaking all sorts of crap. Course it didn't help I was occasionally hitting them but thats besides the point, if I would have beefed up the mounting location on the fender it would have helped alot.

Not saying weld some 1/4" in there just some sheetmetal braces

Yes. My front end is so hammered now. The core support is bent on the driver side, the driver fender is peeled back. Both fenders are caved in.

Please elaborate a little more? Not sure where it needs braced as to where you think.

cut the hood and ran into some fitting issuse. Its got some under hood ribing and wondering if I can flatten some out to get a good fit. I have someone that could clean it up that does real good fiberglass work.

I like the hood. Why doesn't it fit up by the firewall? You didn't cut up there, is it just a flaw in the hood?

How'd you layout the cut? It fits the taper of the fenders really tight.

The pics show why it doesnt fit. those dang ribs under there are hitting the firewall. Im wondering if i can cut some away without damaging the structure of hood?

I know, I saw the ribs thats why I was asking if you had the hood situated funny because of the fenders or if it just plain doesnt fit because it was molded wrong. Is that hood for your year blazer?

It looks like its because everything is a little shorter because of the narrowing.

Ya that's more the cause. It brought the hood up towards the windshield and that rib would have sat down in front of the firewall.
So, you guys think I could shave it down? Then, glass over where I took some out?

Molding is is just fine on it.
It's for 81-87 on the 75 firewall. Not sure if they are different.
