Who makes this bumper???

I've posted that 1 a dozen times... hands down my fave... compact, beefy, etc.... perfect... It's what I'll be modeling mine after...

It's not a company.. The guy who made it hasn't chimed in the last few times I posted the pics, so I'm not sure if he's still around..

That is Bushwhackers truck, and the photo doesn't do the bumper justice! That, by far, is the sexiest front bumper ever!!:D

Doesn't his truck have a matching rear bumper just as sweet? I came across one last year that was VERY nice and I cannot find it again.

That's a nice setup. The one I saw was a double tube rear, understated, but damn nice. It wrapped around the corners of the truck.

hi guys, I don't know if you saw this one before..
it's very similar to the one you drew at the beginning of this post. (I built it myself, didn't take that long, 4 maybe 5 evenings after work.)
Haven't mounted the winch yet though..

Here is my rear, it has the same swing out spare tire carrier as in Got Lab's post but I dont have pics of it now.

Bringing this back - A have a few questions.
Have you had any problems with this setup?
How is the carrier secured in the closed position?
Any more pics from different angles?

I am in the process of building a similar bumper. I am using a spindle, wheel hub and a manual hubs off from a D44 to lock it open and assist in keeping it closed. I am having a hard time coming up with a fastener/clip/lock/clamp design to keep the carrier closed. The locking hub will not prevent rattle and will not secure the opposite side.

I'm planning on using 1.75 x 0.120 HREW for the structure with 1/4" to the frame and the pivot mounting for the tire carrier.

This is what I am thinking of doing:

How are strong are these tube bumpers to say, the stock bumper or a plate bumper?

Stock bumpers have NOTHING on tube bumpers. If you scratch it you can just bust out a rattle can for touch up anyway.

I think if I could do it over again I would order the stinger style bumper instead of the swing out carrier. The swing out is a PITA in a parking lot and its also going to be a pain to get a big tire up there.

Reid Supply has many different options for the latches you are looking for. I think they are Destaco or some variant.

How big is the spare you plan on carrying? I ask this because mine broke a few years ago and it was a swing out carrier. Although it was a different design that initially did not have a latch or anything to hold the free side down. I had to modify it after a 39.5" tire went bouncing across the road and it has not been a problem again, although it does not get driven as much as it used to.:o

Here's a link. http://www.reidsupply.com/aDetail.aspx?N=1003805&A=TC-374&An=1003805&On=1003805&ST= Similar to what I used but there are other styles. Each style comes in many different sizes so read the specs real well. The first on I ordered was about 10" long and 3" wide.:eek1::doah:
