Paul, I think you know my opinion... but ill tell it again anyways lol.
I havent had a whole lot of issues out of my hydro assist. Here is my setup.
2inch big chief ram from nothern tool 8 inch stroke.
stock gm pump with flow and pressure mods via redneck ram website.
2wd steering gear with the top plate tapped and a JKW offroad front cap.
extended reservior kneck for extra fluid capacity.
BG Synthetic Power Steering Fluid.
I burned up one pump by hammering it while pointed vertical for 1/2 an hour striaight. This was the same pump that I had run for 3 years prior very hard.
there is a problem with the stock gm pumps on extreeme inclines. The fluid flows back into the reservoir and starves the pump itself.
for the wheeling that we do I think Hydro assist will work just fine for you. I would be glad for you to drive my rig to see how it feels.
I have not yet had my rig not turn... Ive actually moved some pretty big rocks just by steering.
lets now break down the cost.
Hydro Assist
Lion Ram: $80

Jkw End Cap: $50

Hoses and Fittings:$ 80
I have a great hydro shop here in town... The last fittings I got I paid for with beer cause he wouldnt take any cash.
Drilling and tapping the top cap on your steering box: $0 , you bring the liquior and we can do it in about 10 min in my basement.
So $200 and you have hydro without finding any deals...
Full Hydro guys will have to chime in about the cost on that.
